Do I detect a note of sarcasm?
I’m the guy who, when the recipe calls for a pinch of salt, adds half a kilogram.
Lately I add the whole kilogram — otherwise Dopers don’t even know I’m being sarcastic. :smack:
Wait, you have made your feelings about trans quite clear. Are you afraid you may accidentally father a child with a transwoman? Do you think it’s contagious, so that having to interact with someone who is transgender may contaminate your genetic code? How is this a “defect” you worry may impact your kids?
Derek sounds like he didn’t notice the hooker’s Adam’s Apple.
New bad liberal idea of the day: giving Iran huge sums of cash (and of course the deal itself, nothing less than a surrender to radical Islam jihad)
You’re obviously not paying attention to this thread. That’s already been addressed, and, as usual, you’re wrong.
Derek sounds like he’s outraged that there’s even a possibility of having to check for the Adam’s Apple.
Errr. Wrong again. The money wasn’t a gift; it was ordered by an international court to settle long-outstanding claims. The U.S. has been sequestering money owed to Iran for decades but finally reestablished relations with them.
What’s your go-to source for news, Derek? Washington Post? New York Times? Trump’s Twitter feed?
My guess is goatse.
I brought it up originally when I saw it in the Twin Cities Star Tribune, a respected paper, and if there was one the ‘liberal’ paper to the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
So I guess my outrage still works, only now turned on the poor reporting of the ‘liberal’ media in Minnesota.
I’ve gone dyslexic in old age. :smack: This was supposed to be a sarcastic
Washington Times? New York Post?
That is a pretty glorious fuck-up there, seppo.
I consider myself a liberal, but I really hate this idea. Democratic Congressman Ted Lieu has introduced a bill before Congress requiring approval of Congress before the President can launch nuclear weapons.
While this is a stupid idea, I think the actual intent is to bring more attention to the dangers the country would face with a president who appears to have no idea what nuclear weapons even are, and who does not have a child’s grasp on foreign events. In other words, I don’t think he’s serious - it’s a rhetorical device bill.
It’s actually not very dumb, assuming you leave an exception for if another country launches a strategic nuclear strike against us that endangers our retaliatory capability.
But for first use of nukes, I’ve got no problem giving that power to Congress.
Agreed. That’s a non-starter.
How tall is Phyllis Schlafly? I’m pretty sure she’s without husband at the moment.
The link says that it’s actually the leaders of Congress, not the entire Congress. Assuming he means no more than four or five people, i.e the ranking members of each party and maybe the SecDef, I agree with him that that’s better than having it be the decision of a single person, no matter who that person is.
How about a compromise? Since the Secretary of Defense must be approved by the Senate, use him as a proxy for approval by Congress. Then require both him and the President to jointly authorize a nuclear strike.
Oh, wait. We already do that.
Bush and Rumsfeld. God, we’re lucky to still be alive.
