Because, wait for it, jaguars do not understand or respect national borders. Turns out they’ve been crossing back and forth, undetected, for years! Until we detected them. Are they American jaguars emigrating to Mexico? Are they Mexican jaguars immigrating to the US? Are they dual citizens because their natural range exists in both countries? Exciting questions. Exciting times.

If anything, putting up a wall to stop natural animal migrations is a stupid Republican idea.

That spotted moth that only exists in that one meadow. Too bad, so sad. I’m not throwing myself on the grenade. By and large, I’m in favor of saving endangered species though. I also didn’t post it to the thread, so I’m not entirely certain why it’s here, other than I maybe saving endangered animals is always a Liberal thing. Maybe?
In this case, if I remember correctly there are a few issues:
The jaguars cross onto ranch lands. Some ranchers would prefer that they did not. If the jaguars are protected, the ranchers have put up with jaguars. All, what is it, 150 or so? (On the other hand, if I remember correctly, if ranchers lose livestock to a protected species, I believe the government just pays them for the animal.)
The jaguars are crossing over the US-Mexico border. waits again for exploding heads The border that will supposedly be impermeable. How do we accommodate this? The “Liberals” AKA wildlife experts would argue that the best solution is the let them continue to use their entire range, which would mean leaving part of the border permeable in some fashion.
To make that simpler, the jaguars are a threat to our US-Mexican border and to ranchers.
My take on it is that since we spent decades without even knowing they were there, we can probably just keep on ignoring them. But what do I know.
And this is the “best” stupid liberal idea that anyone can come up with? Or was that the shitty self-published book by some unknown Irish guy? Wasn’t that one supposed to blow all our minds?

I understand the staff and writers tend left on SNL. I figured it would be more likely this thread than the Republican one for this topic.

Fair enough. I wasn’t trying to be overly argumentative. I would also assume it’s more likely than not that she leans left. But until her politics are known, I don’t want our team to take the penalty if we don’t have to
