Stupid liberal idea of the day

Plus the fact that bills get amended all the time, right up until they’re voted on, as I understand it. You really don’t know the final version of the bill until it becomes a law.

Ti Kwan Leep.

Nice beat. I’ll be happy to dance to it… after my coffee break.

Problem is, raising campaign funds for the next election is a **full-**time job.

No, Chuck Norris is Ai Kan Du! [rimshot]

Gotta call 'em as I see 'em. US senator Richard Blumenthal (D - Conn.) holds press conference on commuter train safety. Look where he’s standing and watch what happens.

I like how the mayor has a big dodge, but Sen. Blumenthal just steps to the side like a boss. His only reaction was when he had to catch the poster board before it was blown off.

So taxpayers are not only paying him primarily to raise funds to keep his job but they should give him a raise too?

Just as he’s saying “Safety, as you know, is paramount”, he almost get clobbered. That’s beautiful timing.

Darwin award averted! I hope that, today, he considers himself the luckiest man on the earth!
 :smack:

I’m pretty sure nobody here said anything like that. That requires quite the leap. If anything, the liberals on the SDMB are of the opinion that something needs to be done so that raising re-election funds SHOULDN’T be the major part of a Senator’s/Rep’s job. And I saw an awful lot of derision by SDMB liberals over this guy’s whining about his salary.

Do you even actually READ what other people post?

What a dolt! Jeepers Creepers :smack:

Meh, I’m guessing the camera angle and perspective make that look scarier than it actually was. A couple of feet from a moving train is not a good place to be, but realistically, he wasn’t in any danger.

True enough, I suppose, but that’s because there’s a safety margin built-in to the system. You really shouldn’t be on the yellow line, and you really should keep alert so you know when a train is coming. You don’t encroach on those margins without a good reason, and a press conference isn’t a good reason.

Does anyone know what point he was trying to make; was he touting a good safety record or complaining about a bad one? In either case, he may have done more to raise awareness of safety than he could have hoped.

And let’s have a few more choruses of Dumb Ways to Die (and now, animated GIFs).

Another day, another stupid liberal idea.

Any liberals here care to defend the teaching of this nonsense to kids?

Um, teach the controversy?

Ok I got nuthin’.

Except I thought Obama was a trick of the beast of the 5th Kingdom, not the 4th.

IF this curriculum is as the article says it is, absolutely not. It’s totally nutso. IF. Considering that the source is Fucker Carlson’s Failly Caller, I’m understandably skeptical about the spin.

But IF this is correct, then no way. Fuck 'em.

Yeah, I’m going to go with “no fucking way is this story real”.

I bet the news site got pranked. It kinda makes me want to do a similar prank.

Even if it were true, how is that crazier than promoting Creationism as part of a public school curriculum? Egyptians did exist, we know, because they left a bunch of proof lying around for us to find. Greeks too, they left us several important variations in sexual behavior.

But the all mighty, all knowing god of a bunch of ancient nomadic ME sheep-herders?

Even if it’s true … Look, this is a multi-year curriculum, and these people found one link in all the material that that leads to a crazy website. How much other material is there? How many other links are there? Hundreds, probably, maybe thousands. We don’t know, and of course the article makes no attempt whatsoever to put this into any larger context. It simply grabs on the crazy and paints the crazy brush on the whole program instead of noting that is may be 1% or less of the whole program.
