Stupid Republican idea of the day

So Eric Holder gets to be USAG for longer? LOL! Do they even know what they’re doing? I’m fine with them holding Lynch up, I’m very happy with Holder’s service and have no problems with him staying on a little bit longer

Sam Brownback’s latest master plan to save the Kansas economy: Ban abortions.

Of course they do: They are obstructing a decision of Obama’s in one of the settings where they actually get to do that; it’s too good an opportunity to pass up even if it means cutting off their noses.

Diaper Dave atoning for his transgressions?

It’s not saying it that got you arrested, I think it was more the arson.

The 24-year-old son of Roy Moore, the anti-gay marriage Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court, was arrested over the weekend for possession of marijuana and prescription pills. He is now claiming his arrest is a liberal plot to destroy his family.

Huckabee’s a huckster, peddling a bullshit “cure” for diabetes.

As a member of the shadowy liberal cabal, I would just like to thank Caleb Moore for being such a good sport when we forced him to smoke pot and forced him to take those pills. He clearly did not want to, but we had Stephan, our “bear gay liberal communist”, scare him into doing it under penalty of sitting next to him in a bar and hitting on him and, of course, turning him gay in the process.

Not a stupid idea: Aaron Schock has announced he will be resigning from Congress.

Guessing he’s resigning to spend more time with his abs?

“Dibs on the Downton Abbey office!” is the cry being heard all along the corridors of the Congressional Office Building today…

Ray LaHood’s kid might be running to replace Schock. Don’t know anything about the kid, but never had much against Ray, as Republicans go.

Say what you will, it wasn’t just fun while it lasted, it was fabulous!

To be fair, if you had Roy Moore for a father, you’d probably need some Xanax and pot, too.

Yeah, because Alabama law enforcement is well-known for its liberal sympathies.

Death penalty for Sabbath violations? I’m gonna need chapter and verse on that one.

It’s been a while since I read Exodus, but I know the Ten Commandments aren’t really a list of capital crimes.

I realize this is an old one, but it’s too good not to share, and it involves one of the greatest stupidity hitmakers of all time: Todd Akin:

Um, that’s kinda what happened, minus the Blackberry. What does Akin think happened at the Alamo?

Chapter and verse provided courtesy of Bible Hub.

You’d better read it again; you seem to have missed quite a bit:
Whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death. Exodus 31:15

Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day there shall be to you an holy day, a sabbath of rest to the LORD: whosoever doeth work therein shall be put to death. Exodus 35:2
And just to show he means it:
And while the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man that gathered sticks upon the sabbath day. … And the LORD said unto Moses, The man shall be surely put to death: all the congregation shall stone him with stones without the camp. And all the congregation brought him without the camp, and stoned him with stones, and he died; as the LORD commanded Moses. Numbers 15:32-36
The Ten Commandments are, as the label says, just commandments, without specific penalties — the penalties are given later, as shown above. But most of them are indeed capital crimes. I won’t give chapter and verse for all these, but they are all in the Law of Moses: stubborn children may be executed, people who bear false witness (for capital crimes, which is not much of a restriction in the Pentateuch) will be executed, Sabbath breakers will be executed, murderers will be executed, adulterers will be executed, etc. And of course, the death penalty is specified for many other things not in the Ten Commandments – gay sex, not being a virgin on your wedding night, being a rape victim (if you’re a betrothed virgin, and you were raped in a city), etc.

I do know that the big one is having “other gods before me.” For worshipping other gods, not only is the worshipper to be executed, but so is every man, woman, child, and cow in the town that condoned it.
13:12 If thou shalt hear say in one of thy cities, which the LORD thy God hath given thee to dwell there, saying,
13:13 Certain men, the children of Belial, are gone out from among you, and have withdrawn the inhabitants of their city, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which ye have not known;
13:14 Then shalt thou enquire, and make search, and ask diligently; and, behold, if it be truth, and the thing certain, that such abomination is wrought among you;
13:15 Thou shalt surely smite the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, destroying it utterly, and all that is therein, and the cattle thereof, with the edge of the sword.
Well, sure, but just the edge of the sword! No stabbing, unless preceded by slashing. Beating to death with the hilt is *right *out!
