I liked Pat Boone a whole lot better when he was just an irrelevant old guy that my parents used to listen to.
You should have stopped him and asked; they were probably Bugle Boy jeans.
-Joe
Also possibly Bugger Boy jeans.
Are you suggesting that something does come between them and their Calvins?
Not necessarily. Stains happen.
They seem to have confused the wording of the Lord’s quote “Suffer the little children to come unto me.”
Boyo_Jim:
Let me give this a shot… “When priests wear designer jeans, others will worship the houses of air traffic controllers.”
Hey … I’m an air traffic controller! Let me check outside … nope. No worshipers. Darn.
There would have been but Reagan fired them for trying to get better, safer working conditions.

Wrong. Reagan (a former President of a union) fired them because they went on strike, and their contract specifically forbade them from striking. You can ding Reagan for a lot of things, but you really can’t ding him for this.

So, how about putting welfare recipients in prisons converted to dorms, and then explaining personal hygiene to them?
That would be NY governor hopeful Carl Paladino.

Wasn’t Paladino the one who e-mailed horse/woman porn to his co-workers and aides?

Hmmm, that was in this thread. Page 16 or so?
On edit: Damn, I was wrong. That was actually its own thread:
Tea Party candidate for governor admits to sending horse porn e-mails: “Liberal media smear job”
That link was rather vague.
Is he saying unemployment benefits are the same as welfare (not that either one’s recipients deserve to be asked to go to prison camps)?
And I’m afraid I’m going to have to ask him for a cite and some statistics backing up his assumption that either group (or both) necessarily come from dysfunctional homes and environments.
I get the feeling that he thinks that “Unemployed” = “Smelly Homeless Person.”
I get the feeling that he thinks that “Unemployed” = “Smelly Homeless Person.”
He’s got the formula wrong
Unemployment + time - Unemployment insurance payments- Social Safety Net = Smelly Homeless Person .
The Pubs are doing their best to make that formula operational.

Actually it was federal law that forbade federal employees from striking. The air traffic controllers were misled by the facts that the law had not been applied to previous strikes by federal workers, that their strike was in a large part due to the government’s inaction on what were recognized as real safety issues, and by Reagan’s public support of them while campaigning prior to the election. Reagan’s response seems to me to have been largely a “Respect mah authoriteh!” reaction.

I believe they prefer the term “inter-species erotica” nowadays.
The Republican co-chair of President Obama’s Deficit Commission, former Sen. Alan Simpson gets a two-fer.
First he compared the Social Security system to a
“milk cow with 310 million tits.”
and then
complained that these benefits run “contrary to efforts to control federal spending,” and even went as far as to say that “the irony” is that “the veterans who saved this country are now, in a way, not helping us to save the country in this fiscal mess”
Cite.
Yeah, those Republicans love Americans citizens and old people, but especially veterans!

Sarah and Todd?

Veterans and cows, apparently.
Calling them nuts for sewing fear today …
I think it was the Fifth Horseman of the Apocalypse who represented Embroidery, am I right? On the Paladino Horse?
