Clearly he was doing his absolute best. The fact that he was trying to nail the victim showed that he is both compassionate and confident in his abilities. Cuz “I know he got off, babe, and he’s probably in hiding in the bushes watching with a gun, but how about a little hand-to-gland combat?” doesn’t really work all that well.
