Stupid Republican idea of the day

Ann Coulter says don’t go to Syria if you don’t want to get killed by a Syrian, but if you don’t want to get killed by a Mexican, you’re on your own.

I don’t know, the coast guard?

The FBI, I should hope.

Didn’t his fellow right-wingers teach him about this nifty concept, “Loser Pays” that would turn this tactic into a real-life version of the joke about the guy who put a gun to his own head and warned “You’re next!”?

Dennis Hastert indicted for tax fraud and lying to the FBI.

I’d never realized before how much Dennis Hastert looks like Patton Oswalt.

What sort of “bad act” could prompt a man to agree to paying 3.5 million dollars to cover it up and to then lie about that to the FBI? I think we’re in “dead girl or live boy” territory. Anjd given that “Individual A” contacted Hastert, I think we can cross off “dead girl”.

It’s not often these kinds of scandals erupt out of the blue like this. Nobody but nobody saw this coming. We’ll find out soon who and what and why, but really, taking out $100,000 in cash? How could a guy like Hastert not know this was going to arouse government suspicion?

Even money says Fox will show Hastert with “D-IL” under his name.

An act for which he got even more money than that, so he could keep the rest?

I heard on Marketplace this morning that after taking out three withdrawals of $50K (although I could be mistaken and it was two), the FBI questioned him, and he told them the money was for his personal use. And that after that interview, he began structuring his withdrawals to not trigger the $10K threshold that would require the bank to notify authorities.

Which apparently caused somebody to sit up and take notice.

Hastert busted by his own law.

The ironies are just piling up these days.

“The recipient of the money was a resident of Yorkville, Illinois, where Hastert taught high school and coached wrestling from 1965 to 1981.”

I think we’re in “live boy” territory here.

OK, I’m convinced. Live boy.

The new Hastert Rule: Never pay off a blackmailer in amounts of more than $10,000 at a time.

GOP Senator Says ‘The Lego Movie’ Is Part Of An ‘Insidious’ Propaganda Campaign Against Business Owners

I read that whole article, watched the video, then read Senator Johnson’s blog post about it, and I gotta ask: why are the people with all the money and all the power so shit scared and angry all the time?

I remember during the whole “Mark Foley sexting with teenage Congressional pages” scandal, there was a cloud over what Hastert knew (multiple people claiming that they tried to warn him about what was going on) and why he didn’t act. Maybe he wasn’t in a position to start making strong public condemnations about that sort of thing.

IMDB says the movie made 257 million in US box office alone. It literally has the name of the toy in the title. The entire movie is animated to look the toy.

Yet, somehow the message of hanging out with Dad and building stuff with Dad using the thousands of dollars worth of the toy stockpiled in your basement is somehow anti-capitalist.

Yes, Lego has failed completely as a business in the wake of that movie.

[looks up from sharpening guillotine-blade] Gee, I can’t possibly imagine why.

I don’t know about the rest of you all, but I spend my afternoons sizing up lamp posts for the revolution.
