Stupid Republican idea of the day

Another GOP naif bumbles through Europe (James Ellis)

Jeb Bush meets with Polish pol, Radoslaw Sikorski, who had been taped calling Americans “losers, total losers” and the relationship with the United States “worthless, even less than worthless”. The recordings, made at a fancy restaurant where he was eating on the taxpayers’ dime, came out last year.

At the time of the recordings he was Poland’s foreign minister, but had served the last year as the equivalent of the Speaker of the House. Because of the scandal, he was forced to resign this week.

Of course, 'ol JEB loved the guy and said he was surprised Sikorski would have said such a thing.

And Marco Rubio voted for that bill.

Ann Coulter: Women shouldn’t have the right to vote. Neither should poor people.

Wrong thread.

I think you’re looking for the “Stupid Media-whore-troll idea of the day” thread.

Coulter is simply an Ass-clown. A mouth attached to a spinal cord.

So, she’s still saying that?

Good, I feel less awkward for still complaining about her saying that.

Has Jeb also evolved his views since 1994 about getting off welfare?

Yeah guys, get off your ass and find yourself a husband. What? Oh. :stuck_out_tongue:

It always puzzles me when people ask to have their own rights taken away. Her position is especially strange as shown by this quote from the article you linked to.

Women should be able to run for office, but should not be able to vote.

Hey Ann: if your political opinions aren’t worth paying attention to (as implied by thinking you shouldn’t be able to vote) then why should we pay any attention to your political opinions?

And a question: Does she vote? Why? She should put her money with her mouth is and not vote.

But an educated electorate is not good for Republicans.

Depends on who has control of curriculum and content. All they have to do is appoint Dr. Roy Spencer to run DofE and he will purge all those damn liberal professors and teachers who are making education a bad thing for the RW.

Wouldn’t matter. Academia is not high school, you don’t teach (or learn) stuff by rote any more. You’re (supposed to be) taught critical thinking & scientific processes and methodologies, not just their results. So, how to research & evaluate new information on your own, how to rate the validity of a source… points are docked for looking stuff up on Wikipedia and calling it a day and shit, it’s harsh :).
And you can’t rip that out of higher level education without tanking the worth of the education, because those methodologies are 90% of what prospective employers are looking for in a college kid. The content they do wind up learning along the way will most likely be outdated or otherwise irrelevant in a real world job setting.

So do away with the current academic model entirely (anything that requires critical thinking can be offshored for a fraction of the price).

Sometimes it appears that the PTBs want a population of serfs, and serfs don’t need much education. Get the country back to the three r’s — and the Bible, of course — and everything will be fine.

Until the 1% try to get medical care, or want to hire someone who can invent things that will make them money, or want to exploit the resources in outer space.

They need a certain part of the population educated, just not too many. They need enough to supply their needs, but not enough to outvote the uneducated.

RoidRage and Reagan ?

One of those americanisms we outsiders don’t always get, in this case it means “Reading, wRiting and aRithmetics” or so I surmise from an Eric Flint book I read (1633 I think).

It appears that Huckabee may have more than one child molester amongst his associates.

You surmise correctly. Kobal2, of course, was making a joke about Republican love of Machismo and Ronald Reagan.

Americans should be like Noah and work till they are 600 years old, no retirement in the bible.

This is satire right?
