Stupid Republican idea of the day

Oklahoma GOP compares food stamp recipients to wild animals.

When I scanned this thread and saw your post, I thought surely you must have meant “one specific GOP person in the state”, like, say, a county commissioner somewhere. I was surprised to find that in fact the comparison was made by the official Twitter account of the fucking state Republican Party! And then, of course, I realized that I should not have been surprised at all. Still, it is … discouraging when supposed adults in leadership positions of a political party descend to this kind of dehumanizing, ignorant rhetoric.

It’s an old line, I remember seeing it before.

It’s also, surprise surprise, a big old lie on top of being highly offensive. Namely, the reason NPS don’t want people to give food to wild animals is not that it would “make them dependant on handouts” (like a bear is going to cross paths with enough food-giving tourists to survive on nothing but that, c’mon son) but that it would let them associate humans with tasty treats. Which in turn would increase the risk of them wantonly attacking humans to get at the tasty treats.

So fuck you in the ear twice, Oklahoma GOP. Once for being sociopathic cunts and another for deliberately perpetuating ignorance.

I’m sure if you pointed that out to conservatives, they would say the point still stands, because who wants to risk being attacked by poor people looking for tasty treats??

If only they could match up the hungry bears with the poor people … win win!

Or the bears with the GOP. Even better!

Baby steps, folks.

I love the part where god caused a stock market bubble to punish our unrepented sins. He truly works in mysterious ways.

They deleted the post after the ODHS came along and gave them a beatdown, have a look:

My oh-so-religious GOP SIL posted said offensive crap more than a year ago on FB. No wonder I cut off her news feeds.

Trump campaign tweet features soldiers in Nazi uniforms.

Scott Walker’s reaction to the recent decision by the Boy Scoutsto lift the ban on gay troop leaders:

Protected children? Advanced Scout values? Did he say whether bigotry falls under being trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, or reverent?

Probably under reverent.

I tried my damndest, really did, got all the way up to where I was wrestling with “thrifty”, then I noticed what came next and thought maybe this just wasn’t for me.

Really, septimus, you’ve been here long enough to know there are educational prerequisites before posting on the SDMB. Tut, sir. I say, tut-tut.

elucidator should also be punished for misspelling the Holy Name of Brian. Standards, children. We must have standards or Society will collapse.

Groovy.

You won’t think it’s so groovy when I suggest you get stoned.

Wait a sec, I didn’t phrase that right. “When I suggest we stone you.”

Being Born This Way is definitely easier, You’ve Got to Be Carefully Taught requires some effort.

He’s either dishonest or delusional.

He can’t be both?
