Stupid Republican idea of the day

This is a great precedent. I can’t wait for the follow up amendment to ban the consideration of Biblical Law as well.

Looks like they already got that covered:

I am shocked, shocked I say, to hear that there may be some unintended consequences. I am greatly saddened by it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Why, WHY do I still read user comments on articles like that?!

Tennessee lawmaker calls illegal immigrants ‘rats’

Mmm…

I’m going to disagree over this one. Sure, what he said was in no way flattering, but he didn’t call illegal immigrants rats. He used a simile, and it was perfectly appropriate to convey the message he wished to convey.

It’s in the same vein as Obama making a metaphor to backseat drivers and getting called out for racism for alluding to throwing people in the back of the bus.

The Rick Scott campaign decided to pay their staff in gift cards for some reason.

I love the guy,who worked for the Republicans campaign, interviewed on the subject when asked about how he felt replied ‘going Democrat’

This is also a great opportunity to plug Rachel Maddows new segment which I love Debunktion Junction.

Supposedly their Tampa area operation was unable to issue checks. Wonder if Scott was just regifting.

These Floridians, they do know that they elected a crook to be governor, right? Maybe the just admire the chutzpah.

We’re hoping he can balance our state budget by bilking Medicare again.

Hey! That’s so crazy, it just might work!

They still have a way to go to catch up with Illinois, though.

There is a rumor floating about the interwebs that Rep. Louis Gohmert, Republican from Texas, is warning us all of the threat of terrorist Muslim women smuggling bombs onto airplanes by way of tampons.

http://www.redesign.rumormiller.com/story.php?title=gops-gohmert-warns-tsa-about-tampon-bombers

Your correspondent forcefully reminds that this is but another scurrilous rumor, and he in no wise vouches for the authenticity or veracity of this rumor, save that it is Louis Goober, and there is no such thing as too crazy for a Texas Republican.

Further, as a Doper of proven decorum and propriety, he firmly enjoins all fellow Dopers of refinement and maturity to abstain from tasteless and vulgar jokes involving female genitalia and explosive devices.

That would be wrong.

I have to see a video of this appearance on Fox and Friends. As much as I enjoy laughing at idiotic right-wingers, that exchange between Gretchen Carlson and Gohmert seems unbelievable. And I hope it really didn’t happen.

I"m pretty sure this “quote” from Gohmert illustrates that this is (as they say) a joke, son, a joke:

Bolding mine. I mean come on!

I gotta be honest … that article sounds like total bullshit to me.

A fuse between her legs? What did she have her burkha hiked up and her knickers down like a good like Muslim girl should? And how the hell do you have the FBI arrest someone immediately after the flight for the offence of confusing an idiot? Did he have the FBI/Bat-signal fired us so the agents would know which gate to report to at the airport?

Seriously, methinks that article is satire or something.

Or is it I who is being completley whooshed here?

That’s a dead giveaway. He’s whooshing us.

Yeah it’s kinda sad though, you say something like that about Louis Gohmert and it’s hard to determine if it’s fabricated or not. He is just that freaking crazy.

The name of the site ‘rumormiller’ before I clicked and read the article I thought might be a give away.

I wish I could think of something funny to say. But I live in Florida-- and sadly, there’s no longer anything funny about that.

Grim, grotesque, idiotic, frightening, yes. Funny, no.

Remember, Rick Scott eats babies, and that’s worth a chuckle.

Despite your herculean efforts, I am still unable to laugh. Sigh. Thanks for trying though.

Frankly, I’m afraid he just might. Children and adults, too. I mean, have you looked into his eyes? <shudder>
