Stupid Republican idea of the day

To an American Republican, that’s exactly what it means. “WHAT!? You mean I can’t pay you a miniscule fee, take all the profit, and stick the taxpayer with the costs? What are you, a COMMUNIST! You evil bastard!”

Sorry, Annie – you can put 110% into your trolling, but the nation’s eyes and ears will remain fixed on The Donald for a while.

Ann will happily use Warren Jeffs as the whipping boy for pedophilia if the Mormons ever go Democratic.

Jeffs might like that.

Maybe. You don’t have to be a sci-fi writer to have no sense of scale. It seems endemic to political windbags, too.

I saw a little of the debate tonight. A few of the candidates were quite clear that our military is woefully small and weak right now, and needs lots more men and new equipment. A tattoo artist from North Carolina is just the sort of threat our 21st century fighting forces need to be better prepared to face.

“Woefully small and weak”? We spend more money on our military than the next seven countries combined, and we’re “woefully small and week”. Holy shit, man, how can you possibly reach this conclusion? What’s the money being spent on?

ETA: This is not directed at Robot Arm, but at the candidates making the assertion.

A couple of the candidates were asked about the recent cyber attacks from China and Russia, and apparently the best way to address that is with newer bombers and more Marines. I think they plan to pay for it with tax cuts.

Um, yes ? The Norwegian government owns the oil (and gas), uses this ownership to impose special taxes on all companies operating in its fields and pours all of the profits into an investment fund, and the profits of *that *are flushed into Norway’s pension fund - which is a social expense BTW  ; the largest most inconvenient one where most western nations are concerned.
That’s all pretty “socialist” (in the American, blinkered sense of the word).

Hell, Norway even has a government oversight group dedicated solely to making sure none of the oil tax money is invested into ethically questionable ventures, directly or indirectly. Wall Street types (and HSBC execs…) probably have cold sweat nightmares about that shit :p.

What are you, some kind of peacenik hippie faggot ? There are 150+ countries out there ! Y’all need to be able to take them all on at once, how else can you be winners and give the arms industry a longer lasting erection ?!

Sure, their top CEO’s can afford a gold bidet, but human sacrifice? Only in America.

So this may not exactly reach the threshold of “stupid,” but - ridiculously and hilariously hypocritical? I’ll put it here anyway.

We all know Republican criticism of the President has been relentless, strident, and often personal and unfair. On the Iran deal alone, we’ve seen remarks (from elected GOP officials, no less!) that the administration was basically stupid and naive, that Obama would be to blame for a nuclear war that would kill tens of thousands of Middle Easterners, and, of course, that literally compared Obama to Hitler.

Obama responded strongly - surprisingly, one might think, considering the “weak leadership” and “failed agenda” he’s represented for the past six years, according to these selfsame Republicans. He called out the negative GOP drumbeat, and made a salient point that both congressional Republicans and hard-liners in Iran aren’t happy with the proposed deal. One might think an agreement that hardliners on both sides aren’t happy with might be somewhat reasonable?

Mitch McConnell’s response (again, this is after his cohorts have denigrated the President personally in countless ways, and literally compared him to Hitler): Stop demonizing us, you nasty, hateful man! And you best apologize for hurting our feelings!

The GOP is the dictionary definition of “We can dish it out, but we certainly can’t take it.” (I know, that’s not in the dictionary. I mean, the individual words are, but not the phrase.) At least not from a socialist, communist, Kenyan community organizer. How dare he say something nasty about us, when we’ve been so nice and just tried to get along!!!111

That’s the thing though. At various times - and often at the same time - Obama was accused of being both an empty suit and a tyrannical dictator.

The thought that these were two contradicting things never seemed to enter their minds, bless their hearts.

Newthink without Newspeak. All negative terms are synonyms for “ungood,” and all positive terms are synonyms for “good.”

Minds?

Hearts?

Diamonds?

:smack:

No Trump?

Well played!
