Stupid Republican idea of the day

Surely (IANAL). A governor is CinC of the states national guard unless the President calls them up, so he’s even got trained troops.

According to the article, no, it is not legal, because the federal government determines immigration rules and laws, not the states.

Republican State Rep resigns after lying about his military background.

But hey, those R’s really respect the military. So much that they enjoy pretending to be them.

I’m confused. Does that mean:

1.) Being a teacher is a “calling”, but being a legislator isn’t (so you can raise legislator’s pay without offending God, or something)

or

2.) There’s some statement in the Bible prohibiting raising teacher’s pay

or

3.) There’s something in the Bible that allows you to raise legislator’s pay
or

4.) If you raise the pay for legislators you won’t attract people who aren’t called to legislate, for some reason.

Exactly. You’ll just get a bunhc of incompetents in it for the money. As has just been proven by McGill.

Heck, you can speed that up just by being black and asking a police officer for directions.

Maybe we ought to try some kind of monastic arrangement where they have to take a vow of poverty with their basic needs provided in a legislators’ dormitory.

Actually, no, not really. Plumbic insertion therapy is an ineffective means of achieving the desired end. Lead dissolved and dispersed through water is absorbed far more readily than a pellet of lead inserted directly, and oftimes the pellet is removed. And frequently the process of insertion can lead to a complete shutdown of all systems, what your doctor calls being “dead”, which is irreversible.

Republican state legislator in WA introduces a bill to block further gun control laws in the state… and in four pages, he proceeds to provide made-up quotes attributed to Washington, Jefferson, and Hamilton, attribute a Patrick Henry quote to Thomas Paine, and then Godwinize himself.

I’ll bet his attitude is “what do facts matter as long as I get my way?”

Washington senate bill 6548passes through committee mandating people use bathrooms (among other places) that fit the correct genitals only. This law opens the way for bathroom genital checkers because, how else are you going to make sure?

Not surprisingly, this bill was supported by the same idiot above who fabricated his military records and has now resigned.

Yeah, I’m with Trump on this one. Good for him for calling out Cruz.

**Fun in the Republican controlled Wisconsin legislature. ** None of the promised laser focus on jobs but they’ve got time to try to defund Planned Parenthood(Federal program, no state authority) and they want to pass a law aimed at a specific potential Democratic candidate for State Senate.

Oh, and who needs local control of water?

We’ve got an unusual situation in WA right now - Democrats technically outnumber Republicans in the Senate, but a handful of rural Democrats decided to caucus with the GOP to create a Republican majority after the last election.

Which gives them the majority in these committees, and free reign to advance bills that won’t pass the full Senate anyway, will never get a hearing in the Democratic-majority House, would be vetoed by the Democratic governor, and which the general population opposes in the first place.

New York has had similar stuff going on over the last five years or so, only in this case it is a handful of urban Democrats who have decided to work with the Republicans. Funky stuff.

Free REIN.

Dammit.

Free RAIN!

…purple reign?

Rein in hell?

Let’s rain in the homophones here.
