A school district in Austin, Texas has decided that it should change the name of Robert E. Lee Elementary School. So they put a new name to the vote.
The winner?
“Think of the children” ??? You better not get caught doing that.

I didn’t read the link, but your post reminds me of an Onion story I did read. They reported that the NFL team from Washington finally agreed to change their name. The new name: The D.C. Redskins.
Oklahoma has approve a bill that would revoke the medical license of any doctor performing an abortion (the bill, now on the governor’s desk, would not apply to abortions performed to save a mother’s life, although the bill lacks similar exceptions for abortions performed in cases of rape or incest).
Co-sponsor of the bill, David Brumbaugh, was quoted as saying “If we take care of the morality, God will take care of the economy[sup]*[/sup]."
*His quote is him quoting a friend of his, but still sums up a tiny portion of what’s wrong in Oklahoma.
Shit like this is why, when people start bashing Texas, I struggle not to say, “Have you ever heard of Oklahoma?”
There are good people in Oklahoma. I’ve met some of them, so I know they exist. I’m forced to assume that they’re kept chained in the tornado shelters on election days.

In my Facebook feed this morning was the meme “Like and share if you think ONLY PRESIDENTS SHOULD BE ON OUR MONEY”, followed by a picture of the current currency lineup.
(If you think there’s no connection between the gender and race of Harriet Tubman and this new sense of outrage, I have a bridge I’d like to sell)
Included in the current currency, of course are non-presidents Hamilton ($10) and Franklin ($100).
That’s pretty dumb. I think Tubman is an awesome pick, although I think King would have been better. I realize they wanted a woman, but MLK is a giant in our country’s history and just belongs on currency.
The proper response to each posting of this meme should be “I agree. How fast can we remove Hamilton and Franklin?”
