Stupid Republican idea of the day

Ouch.

Limpballs had a funny one the other day. He bloviated on about liberals co-opting Jesus Christ for political purposes in the federal budget debate, then vehemently asked (then answered himself), “What would Jesus take? NOTHING!”

Well, except the exact opposite is true.

I actually kind of feel sorry for Mitt under those circumstances. It’s clear he meant no harm, nor was he using “code words” to make a racist statement, like that racist pig Trump. He just accidentally got caught up in an unfortunate turn of phrase. He gets a pass from me on that one.

Yeah, I give Mitt a pass on that one too - just a bad choice of words that he quickly realized himself had implications he didn’t intend. No pass for those who laughed and/or applauded, though.

No passes from me (even though I don’t hold his remarks in that particular instance against him to any greater degree than I hold anything else he says or does). He’s still a 21st century Republican, and that’s enough to earn [del]my[/del] contempt.

Be a good time to polish up my unbiased, nonpartisan cred by pointing out a 21st century Republican worthy of your respect. Damn.

Eh, giving him a pass on a personal level 'cause it was just a poor choice of words is fine, and he gets points for clarifying that he meant “METAPHORICALLY! of course” so it’ll stave off long debates here over what he really meant, but it was a really dumb thing to say and he’s shot himself in the foot. If it was something he had written down in front of him, it was doubly stupid.

Of course you’re not, Equipoise, but you’re not from southeast Kansas. It’s not just what he said, which is indefensible. It’s also the astounding way he tried to excuse his unthinking, unfeeling racist bastardocity by claiming that *everyone *in southeastern Kansas is just like he is. Un.Be.Lievable. Worst kind of slug.

(Sorry, slugs.)

Davit Usupashvili?

The metaphor seems to me to be just a distraction. I’m more troubled by his idea that the economic downturn is the fault of Obama.

Oh, that’s become common knowledge, just like using TARP as evidence that Obama is pursuing a socialist agenda.

The slightly more enlightened merely claim that if McCain had been elected, we’d have been sailing clear in a strong economy by now.

The memory of voters is remarkably short.

Old news.

And I think Mitt not only gets a pass but a pat on the head for his story. How many Republicans and/or politicians would even have noticed where that metaphor was going so quickly? If anything it suggests that Romney thinks of Obama in terms of his party, not his race.

Apparently, McCain has finally accepted that Obama won the election - since he went ahead and finally revealed with Bin Laden was hiding out.

-Joe

I’m inclined to agree with this - In Romney’s place I wouldn’t have twigged until someone pointed the “problem” out, on account of Obama simply being another politician to me, not “BLACK GUY, also a politician”.
Maybe that’s why I’m not in politics :stuck_out_tongue:

Taking a very short break from the action (although it was a surprise to see this thread fall out of the Pit’s front page), Rush Limbaugh of all people recently congratulated the President for ordering the strike that took Osama out.

What is this… I don’t even… is this real life?

Alright, carry on…

Limbaugh was being sarcastic. He thought he was lambasting the media for fawning.

Luckily, most of his listeners are blissfully unaware of what sarcasm is.

Well, true. I think that was a foolish thing for Limbaugh to do, honestly.
How much would I give to be one of the 72 Virginans Osama is ‘hanging out’ with since Sunday?
So either the Cooch has some bizarre sexual fantasies he wanted to let everyone know about or he’s an Attorney General of Virginia that doesn’t know/or can’t spell people from Virginia are called ‘Virginians’

It might have helped him a bit if he included the joke so people knew what he was going on about.

Then just thinking about the joke, it’s dead Virginians in heaven that are there to issue the beating. What’s Ken saying here he wishes he was dead in heaven? Well he’s probably not the only one that wishes that! He can make that happen!

Yes on the dead part, not so sure on the heaven part.

Here’s a link to a new documentary all about a particularly stupid Republican with delusions of grandeur.
