Stupid Republican idea of the day

Do not!

OK, not everybody knows that. Some have never met any, so they don’t.

The first run at me he shouted Namaste three times. Unfortunately for him and fortunately for me, he charged the wrong side of the desk and then ran back into the hall. His next two attempts were shoving matches with me trying to close the door and him trying to get through it to get at me.

It was not just that he was trying to make me one with the universe, but also that he was living in an entirely different universe from the rest of us.

That line never worked for me back in the day…

Wait, you were trying to pick up Buddhists?

“So, ya want some soteriological release from those pesky rebirths in saṃsāra? Or just a Harvey Wallbanger?”

that was worth a belly laugh

Careful; you may want to check for freelance “karma-exorcist” ghosts.

Fox News chyron; “UK Votes To Leave UN”.

Give them some credit. At least they didn’t label Cameron a Democrat.

NM

A sampling of Republican responses to the Brexit vote.

My two favorites were, of course, from Sarah Palin and Donald Trump.

Palin:
After comparing the Brexit vote to the United States Declaration of Independence, she calls for the US to leave the UN.

Trump:

I guess he isn’t aware that Scotland might have yet again another vote on independence from the UK.

Scotland also voted to stay, by a wide margin. Trump’s ignorance is a black hole of stupid, he has a non-event horizon.

It’s stupid all the way down.

Right down to singularity of willful ignorance.

Twitter is apparently aflame with “Texit” tweets today.

Dear Omnipotent Deity I don’t believe in: PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!!! We’ve been good. We’ve eaten all our vegetables (well, not the beets. Those are gross). We walked the dog. We didn’t hit our sister (hard). Please let us have Texit for Christmas.

In the headlines: After Brexit, what? U.S. secessionists hankering for ‘Texit’.

Secessionist groups all over the country are on fire, but especially in Texas. Let’s all give them all the encouragement it takes. Hell, why the fuck wait? Kick Texas out now. It’s a movement they and we can all get behind! Win-win!

ETA: To be sure, the above article says this about a certain secessionist group in California:

(Bold added.) To be sure, a lot of people – even reasonable people – could agree with that.

Sigh.

This thing you’re doing? It’s called “not helping”.

Texit: Worth a thread of its very own over in Elections? I just started one there.

The wife of Governor Paul LePage just announced that she’s taken a job as a waitress because his $70,000 a year salary isn’t enough for them to make ends meet.

I understand that his salary is the lowest of any governor, but don’t they live rent-free in the Governor’s Mansion? And just what is the cost of living in Maine?

I assume this is a political stunt to show all of those freeloaders on SNAP that they just need to get a job.

Always, always? Yeah, I am believing it.
