Newt Gingrich apparently thinks you can reliably identify the terrorists by simply asking them whether they “believe in” sharia law:
Mr. Gingrich made no apparent distinction between US and non-US citizens, nor did he seem to mention where he thought the US citizens who failed his little ‘test’ should be deported to.
Hey, I believe in sharia. That is, I’m pretty certain it exists, as a concept. Guess I’d better pack my bags.
This is just like that ‘Republicans v gay sex’ thing, isn’t it? I’m pretty sure that all the Republicans wailing about Internet porn are frantically fapping away to it every spare moment of their day.
No, because they have a certain low degree of cunning and many will see through such a plan, subtle as it may be. I say, make a cross of bacon and lay it on the exposed skin of the suspect; if they scream, “IT BURRRNSS!!” you have your answer.
Remember, if you’re a computer techy guy, and a chiquita says her boyfriend claims that the porn on his 'puter was put there by a virus, you answer “Oh, yeah, sure, happens all the time!”
Bros! We can’t actually win, but we can lose slower.
It does!. Well, not all the time, but at least it has happened once or twice. I’m doing my part: I teach this case in my security and forensics classes. Never forget!
[Serious aside: the guy in the linked case was accused of accessing child porn, and his life was pretty much ruined. Turned out his machine was compromised and he was not aware of the access to the porn images. His employer and the state botched the investigation horribly and the guy had to spend a ton of money to exonerate himself. Awful story all around. I teach it as an example of how not to handle investigations.]
I was watching The View this morning (don’t judge me!) and they talked about that Newt quote just after they talked about Mike Pence’s “religious freedom” law. The Republicans just have no sense of irony.
