So, Billy Long makes fun of Tornado Warnings, then sponsors a bill to cut the HAM radio networks which help provide the National Weather Service and local authorities spotter reports on what is going on. I have to wonder if he will ever be held accountable for this irresponsibility…seems like he’s already pissed off some of his base.

Against my better judgment I clicked one of the Liberal links in this thread. It turns out Liberals are annoyed by a pending Texas law and threatening to stop airflights to Texas. I’d like to hear what’s so wrong with this law:

CSHB 1937 would amend Penal Code sec. 39.03 to provide that a public servant would commit an offense if, while acting under his or her office and without probable cause, the public servant performed a search for the purpose of granting access to a publicly accessible building or form of transportation and intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly:
[ul][li]touched the anus, sexual organ, buttocks, or breast of another person, including touching through clothing; or[/li][li]touched the other person in a manner that would be offensive to a reasonable person.[/li][/ul]
A public servant would include a U.S. officer, employee, or agent; anyone contracted to perform on behalf of a U.S. branch, department, or agency; or anyone acting under federal law. The public servant would have a defense to prosecution if he or she performed the search pursuant to and consistent with an explicit and applicable grant of federal statutory authority that was consistent with the U.S. Constitution.

Well it would seem such a law would stop flights out of Texas not ones into Texas. If passengers can’t be searched according to TSA standards the FAA isn’t going to allow the aircraft in the air.

I say by all means please pass it. The rest of the country has no need for Texans getting out. For those trapped there I’m sorry but I admire your sacrifice, you’ll have to drive to the nearest border.

“Is there some thought being given to subsidizing the clearing of rainforests in order for some countries to eliminate that production of greenhouse gases?” the California Republican asked Todd Stern, the top U.S. climate diplomat and lead witness at the hearing.

I read in some trivia book that a full grown tree does produce more carbon dioxide through respiration than it uses up in photosynthesis - maybe that’s the fact Dana is working off?

I mean, if you ignore the destruction of habitat, massive ecological damage caused by soil erosion and the fact that it’s a stupid idea, it’s not that stupid of an idea.
