Stupid Republican idea of the day

If there were any left, they’ve been primaried out of office.

Republicans don’t get a bad rap here for no reason. They get a bad rap because they deserve it, and this very thread contains hundred of examples why they deserve it.

I guess I just have to concede.

Well, if you want to show us an example of a Republican who is getting a bad rap and being unfairly slurred, please do so. I for one would be happy to say “Yes, that person isn’t these things and is being treated unfairly”. Honestly, I don’t think you can come up with one, other than making this broad claim.

You need to get over the feeling that “there are good ones too” should win you the presidency. If you find yourself a small minority of Republican conservatives who are “good ones too” it’s time to consider changing parties.

I don’t feel like any of the parties that have a chance of winning represent what I want. I was just going to start a thread about the subject, but I don’t want to put it in the wrong place.

I wasn’t trying to start a fight or be disrespectful. I will contemplate else where. My bad folks.

CNN also came out with a poll earlier in the week which had Trump leading in the national vote, until the methodology was explained and everybody said CNN’s polling leaves a lot to be desired.

Yeah, a voluntary on-line poll open for an entire month isn’t exactly scientific.

You gotta understand what the GOP debate style has become, Stake. When a GOP figure gets criticized, all you see out of them is an indignant, emotional reaction. What you DON’T see is any kind of factual rebuttal of the actual accusation. Why not? Because the GOP has mostly abandoned facts and reasons, in favor of persuading people based on their worst emotional reactions.

Take a few examples:
-Build a wall between the US and Mexico. If you hate Mexicans, that sounds great. Never mind that it doesn’t solve the problem and is a dumb idea. The solution to illegal immigration is to crack down on the people hiring them.

-Ban Muslims from entering the US. If you are a prejudiced person who views Islam itself as a terrorist organization, that sounds great. Never mind that a religious test for entering the country is wholly un-American.

-Build up the military. If you are a seething paranoiac who wants to lash out at the threats that have been invented and screamed at you for years on right-wing radio, that sounds great. Never mind that we have the most powerful military in the world by far, to an excessive degree, and that it is a major contributor to the deficit. But hey, we can’t implement truly fascist solutions to problems on a global scale without a yet-larger military!

Stake, study the issues assiduously and you will discover that the GOP cares about one thing: cutting taxes for the wealthy. They intend to destroy Social Security and Medicare to free up more taxes to cut for the wealthy. They don’t care about the public at all- they run campaigns based almost entirely on lies to sucker the stupid into voting for them.

Trump just promised to repeal the Johnson Amendment, which prevents religious leaders from endorsing candidates. If you are a moron who doesn’t understand the 1st Amendment, theocracy sounds pretty good. If you are paying attention, you can see that the GOP is jerking around the ignorant to benefit the wealthy at the expense of the general public.

A pretty common feeling around these parts. Were it not for my fear of an actual Trump Presidency :eek:, I might vote 3rd party. Or do a write in for Bill Nye The Science Guy.

“And [Sen. Marco Rubio] referred to my hands, if they are small, something else must be small. I guarantee you there is no problem. I guarantee.”

March 3

The only Republicans I lump together with the racists are the ones who won’t disavow the ones who actually are.

Well, I can respect that. I only joined these boards as a learning experience. I am still young and still learning. I have a lot to figure out still it seems.

This is the false equivalence so prevalent over the last several election cycles. Yes, you can find examples from both sides.

But the examples cited here by liberals are typically from very prominent Republicans – very famous spokesmen (like Giuliani), sitting Congressmen (like Gohmert), sitting governors (like LePage), etc. And the examples cited by conservatives are typically either complete nobodies, like whoever put out the nude statues of Trump, or completely imaginary, like ACORN or whatever stupid CT Alex Jones is promoting today.

Don’t worry about it, you’ll do fine. Used to be, way way back, I was just to the left of Otto von Bismarck. Argued with lefties all the time, got sick of losing, so I became one.

Aw goldurn contrary! What you got there is a genius stroke of gorilla theater and subversive snark!

Admitted druggie, ha. Wait, you were talking about W, right?

Yeah, always love when some guy calls someone who admits to having tried Marijuana a “druggie”. Usually while they’re holding a beer in their hand and looking for their totally legitimate percocet prescription.

You didn’t notice when Bill Clinton was a pot smoking draft dodging fag, but Bush merely had "youthful indiscretions? I mean, c’mon, we all snort coke and get DUI’s and don’t show up for our military obligations. That’s not the same!

As I recall, W promised to “restore honor/dignity to the Whitehouse”, I guess because Clinton allowed it to be discovered that he got a blow job or whatever. So, based on W’s great success in that endeavor, who amongst us believe that Trump could actually “make the country great again”? Or would even try?

And it would be churlish to mention that W’s wife really did kill somebody.
