I listen to WVLI while working, which means hearing competing political ads for Kate Cloonan (D, incumbent) and Lindsay Parkhurst (R). The Cloonan ads accuse Parkhurst, an attorney with her own firm, of defending pedophiles to the point that they get no jail time. The Parkhurst ads, while not denying this, paint Cloonan as a liar and Parkhurst as “keeping families safe”.
How, exactly, does keeping pedophiles out of jail keep families safe?
Better investment is bail insurance for your kids. That works for me, because my son is so white, he gets sunburn from the little bulb in the refrigerator. I think if he were not, I’d just be happy he got to jail alive.
Caught in a lie, Trump surrogate pleads stupidity instead. Donald’s campaign manager Kellyanne Conway claims that Trump didn’t know debate moderator Lester Holt was a Republican when he fired off an accusation that Holt was a Democrat while warning about fair treatment during the first presidential debate.
So don’t worry folks! Donald Trump is not a liar! He’s just incredibly stupid and lax about easily fact-checked information!

She means the families of the pedophiles, of course. As long as they’re good Christians, don’t they deserve to not rot in jail and expose their families to undue financial hardship or public opprobrium ?

The candidate’s ad does not dispute whether or not the person is actually a pedophile, stands to reason that the person really is a pedophile.
Which one is the grizzled veteran who’s coming up on retirement, and which one is the loose cannon who doesn’t play by the rules?
Every accused person should have a defense attorney whose goal is to keep them from being convicted and if convicted to keep them from spending more time in prison than legally necessary. That includes pedophiles.
You really, REALLY do not want to be the grizzled veteran. You just KNOW you’re going to get shot 2 days before your retirement party.

Just heard a new ad for Parkhurst. Still talks about her supporting law enforcement and accusing Cloonan of lying but not one word about keeping families safe.

Excuse me, but everyone deserves representation in court. Hitler, Stalin? They get a lawyer. The worst unrepentant pedophile? They get a lawyer.
