Stupid Republican idea of the day

Knock yourself out.

She’s not ignoring intellectual property rights. Her campaign has paid the ASCAP or publisher’s fee.

This is why we need to draft laws addressing the issue of Gross Uncoolness.

The maximum penalty is appearing in a denture fixative commercial.

So Tom’s teeth are naturally awesome, and any pretender’s teeth are not? I can work with that.

Not according to Herman Cain he isn’t.

Note: Just to clarify things, Herman Cain is the African-American running for President of the United States who didn’t order the killing of Osama bin Laden.

Different issue. ASCAP covers a band playing the song in a venue. Using an existing recording as a theme song is in the area of “synchronization rights”. Let her find a Ted Nugent song that will work - he won’t mind. I would suggest Little Miss Dangerous.

I was thinking* Bat Shit Fever*!

I was looking for real Nugent song titles, but his stuff is so misogynistic that few women would want to be associated with them.

Wang Dang Sweet Poontang? It is about the only advantage she brings to the primary.

Stormtroopin’?

I love you so I told you a lie?

She’s not using it as a theme song. Her campaign played it once, as far as anyone knows. I’d go with Bound and Gagged, though.

So New Jersey Governor Chris Christie went after unions like a dozen other states across the nation have done in the past few months. NJ had the D votes to stop the measure but a number of state Senators went along with Christie and against their party. They made a separate agreement with Christie to fund a number of social programs in next year’s budget and gave up their vote.
The bill passed, then Christie took it and used his line item veto power to specifically cut out all the programs (and then some) that had been brokered in the deal. So Unions get stripped and social programs get cut and the Democrats got played. Shrewd political move, eh?

There’s more than enough stupid to go around here. First, to the Democrats who went against the best interest of their party and their constituents. Have they no news in New Jersey? Did they not see what’s going on in states across the country? But this isn’t a thread about Democrats.

The stupid is on behalf of the Governor. Never in my life have I seen someone so blatantly, brazenly, openly renegged on a promise as happened here. Had Christie literally slapped the Democrats in the face, it wouldn’t have been far different from what really occurred. So the question is, is this the hill Christie wants to die on? He’s declared war on the state senate and openly admitted his word cannot be trusted on anything ever again.

I just…I don’t know. Half of me wants to applaud his sheer chutzpah. And half of me wants to do what the Senate leader threatened and punch him in the face.

Enderw24, i’m not saying that it didn’t happen, but the story that you linked to does not support the allegations in your post. The allegations in your first two paragraphs, about Dems brokering a deal and then Christie going back on it, are not discussed in the article. You got a link with more information?

Sorry about that. I had heard it from another source and just went to go find a story to link to.

That gives a nice summation of the entire ordeal. The other two links are more about Sweeney’s reaction to what happened:

Sen. Orrin Hatch says the poor need to “share some of the responsibility” for shrinking the debt:

Whenever they use that “skin in the game” talking point, you know they are going after they very bottom of the economic ladder.

And that offhand remark about ‘everybody pays Social Security’; I’d like to know what percent of his annual income Hatch pays toward SS, versus the percentage paid by workers in the bottom 51% of households.

These guys are just mad because they found out somebody who is not them still has some money.

So there is a tax increase that can get Republican support. What would Grover Norquist say?

As Buffet says, the Repubs raised the debt ceiling 7 times when Bush was in. Now they suddenly developed a financial conscience when Obama is in. They are liars and hypocrites.

I wonder what percentage of all income the top 10 percent earn?

Can’t they just repeal the budget?

Yes, they raised it 7 times over 8 years.

Maybe they are a bit concerned about raising it for the 4th time in 2.5 years now?

On a side note, why did the Democrats vote almost unanimously against it in 2006? Why did Obama state in 2006:

I think you may be a bit confused who the hypocrites and liars are.
