That Republican candidate who offered Kool-aid, watermelon and fried chicken at a Harlem campaign event, has been arrested for rental fraud.
I don’t quite get the con. What was the scam, get them to pony up a year’s worth of rent and then just tell them, “Sorry, I’m keeping the money and you can’t have the apartment. Go screw.”?
If so, how the hell could he get away with it so many times before being arrested? And how could he expect to not get caught sooner or later?
Or did I misread something in there?
It was cash. Maybe claim he never had contact with the victim(s)?
He likely had some excuse for not giving a receipt.
If he does it once, it’s a civil dispute and goes to civil court. He has to do it multiple times and the other victims have to be aware of each other (or at least the police have to be aware) to get him arrested.
It is sad to think there are people stupid enough to believe it.

It may be a conspiracy, by that vast left-wing cabal. Or maybe he just identifies so closely with his marks, has so much empathy for them, that he feels like one of them.

No one said anything about execution - post heading should be stricken. I did like (for some degree of like) where she said, “Every American’s sacred vote MUST be respected and legitimized in today’s elections.” You know, except minorities, native Americans, Muslims, immigrants, etc. I seem to have noticed that it’s Republican policy to restrict voting as much as possible in these democratic leaning areas. Regarding voter fraud cases (31); most were Republican involved tampering with absentee ballots. An area where all their attempted blocking maneuvers (voter ID, restricted voting hours, too few machines/polling places in minority areas, sending crappy/broken machines to native American reservations, restircted early voting dates, etc…) wouldn’t have been effective anyway.
