I knew there was a reason why I like living here: the entire state is a college town!
That explains why everyone’s sporting an ironic “Underdog as Dr. Who” v-neck under an insincere lumberjack shirt (to go with their ManBun)… as they longboard through red lights vaping and sipping their Chai-and-Jagermeister.
Wisconsin is a college town. Every-fucking-town you go to, there is a UW.

Apparently the debate moderators were visibly shocked by his quip. And Kirk is supposed to be one of the moderate Republicans.
You have to admit that Duckworth played that one perfectly by just letting it stay out there on its own without response.

Duckworth, Iraq War COMBAT veteran who lost two limbs and sustained other severe injuries, is a US citizen, daughter of a US citizen, the father being a US marine (now deceased) with a lineage going back to the revolutionary war. Wouldn’t be surprised if several relatives of hers fought in all the previous wars, including the revolution.
To shit on all of that and question her lineage or patriotism by suggesting her “parents” (meaning, just her mother) came “all the way from Thailand”, as literally the only response to Tammy’s insistence on having someone who actually served and bled for their country involved in the decision to send more American families to war…
It’s mind-boggling. It may be worse that anything Trump has said this entire election.
Dyed dark red Republicans should be flipping Mark Kirk the bird over that disgraceful behavior.
I’m not a big pro-war kind of guy and I don’t automatically think everyone who served is a good person doing good things for good reasons. At the same time, I’m pretty much sitting here fuming at the horrific disrespect.
Duckworth chose to become a helicopter pilot because it was one of the only COMBAT roles available to women. She chose to actually fight. She didn’t just incidentally get injured on a base somewhere. She was on the front lines.

I want to say the elected and establishment Republican party operatives and senators/congresspersons etc are more or less irredeemable, but a majority of the citizens that voted them into office are not.
I’d love it if they did not re-elect people like this. Vote in anyone else, then return to voting GOP afterward if they insist. Turn the Republican party into something that resembles the party of Reagan or George H.W. Bush or Bob Dole. There were Republican politicians I respected once, despite their deeply conservative views.
There are very few such people in office today. Republican voters are the only ones who can decisively change that. I’m already not voting for a Republican. The only vote that matters is the Republican voter who makes a different choice.

The guy she verbally eviscerated for gaming the veteran’s support systems of the United States, in the above video, was later convicted for the murder of his wife. I researched, it’s not someone with the same name. It’s Strong Castle CEO Braulio Castillo, who murdered his wife the very next year in their own home.

Duckworth will be a Senator from Illinois shortly. I hope she destroys a ton of scumbags during her long political career.
Duckworth will gore a lot of oxes during her career, not just Republican ones. She’s the real deal, your very own John McCain.

Referring to her mavericky ways, although leaving part of herself back in the warzone is another thing she has in common with McCain.
It’s going to be fun watching Kirk get his ass kicked by a warrior who left her legs on the battlefield.
Happy to see some feisty women Democrats getting elected to the Senate. Something we need more of.
