Stupid Republican idea of the day

That’s what I call thinking inside the box.

Clicking around to learn about illegal immigration I ended up at this page:
As Christians, we are taught to obey the law. There is nothing unkind or unjust about asking people to obey the law…

What took place in the civil rights era was a series of unlawful actions against lawful residents. It was a shameful chapter in our state’s history. The immigration issue of today is entirely different. The government is not persecuting people.
Two questions:
(1) Is the idea of obeying laws uniquely Christian? Are Jews, Muslims, Hindus and/or Buddhists taught to disobey the law?
(2) What shameful unlawful acts is he referring to as “in the civil rights era”? The civil rights era was in response to shameful unlawful acts before the civil rights era.

His phrasing is a little ambiguous, isn’t it?

At first, it seems like he is saying that the unlawful actions were the ones committed by the civil rights movement itself. But i think what he’s trying to say is that the discriminatory laws and actions that the movement fought against is what constituted the “unlawful actions against lawful residents.”

Yes, that’s what I figured he meant. But his misspeaking (Freudian slip?) suggests an interesting mindset: the anti-black crimes weren’t unlawful or shameful until activists drew attention to them.

Well, of course. My fifteen year-old has the same mindset. Nothing wrong was done… until you’ve gotten in trouble.

Well, MLK was jailed dozens of times for rocking the boat…

Pretty sure that was the British position when colonists were tossing Tea in to the harbor.

A mime is a terrible thing to waste.

So is that joke.

It wasn’t wasted. It went in the recycle bin.

Where it will be taken from over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over.

A group of LGBTQ teenagers visited the Oklahoma State Capitol today. The Page Program Supervisor for the Oklahoma House of Representatives sent out an email blast to Capitol employees (and presumably Representatives) warning that there were “cross dressers” in the Capitol and they were going to be using the bathrooms.

Came here to post this. The Oklahoma blog that regularly reports on this state’s foibles, the Lost Ogle, has some juicier opinions and comments.

More on Oklahoma’s bid to be the most backward state in the union.

Oklahoma is now too poor to have future student science fairs.

At the Oklahoma State Science and Engineering Fair, Dr. Rahmona Thompson, biology professor and master of ceremonies, tearfully announced that she was presiding over the last Oklahoma science fair. THE OKLAHOMA STATE LEGISLATURE HAS DEFUNDED ALL SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING COMPETITIONS IN THE STATE. In 2018, Oklahoma will be the only state in the union NOT TO HOLD A STATE SCIENCE FAIR.

Alas the state has been too generous to it’s wealthy [del]oil magnates[/del] job creators and is dissolving the state education budget. Probably will have to skip a year of school due to lack of funds.

Sean Spicer: Hitler didn’t use chemical weapons against “innocent people”, just the people in “the Holocaust Centers”.

Really piss off the Teacher’s Union. Probably make plans to rally at the legislature to protest. They will have to move fast, if they want to get there before the parents burn it to the ground.

U.S. Rep. Joe “You Lie” Wilson hears plenty of boos, chants, and gets kicked square in the nutz from his constituents. The Fucker.

Back to banning gay marriage. North Carolina

Good luck getting that one past the Lemon test.

So, the Jews weren’t innocent is what he is saying. Riiiiiight. And Trump and his cronies aren’t antisemites.
