When referring to his own life, he’s saying that he’s trying to do the right thing but he isn’t perfect. How is referencing Jesus dropping his crucifixion cross 3 times also about a guy trying to do the right thing but failing? 
The only thing that I can come up with, is that he’s saying he’s analogous to Jesus, and gets two more mistakes before he’s crucified.
