Senator Corker asks Senator Hatch to explain how the #CorkerKickback provision mysteriously materialized in the tax bill just as the party leadership was scrambling for votes.
Snopes is full of debunked articles—90% of which support a right wing conspiracy theorist worldview—that turn out to be sourced from a site that has “humor” or “satire” in the fine print somewhere.
In the early days of the internet, there was a lot less bullshit to be found on it. Largely because there was a lot less content. Some time around '98 or '99, the bullshit-to-valid-content ratio stabilized around seventy or eighty percent and has not really moved off that mark. The battle against bullshit-fed ignorance is a worthwhile one, but do not expect to see perceptible gains, unless there is a radical change in culture or human neurological anatomy.
I love Hatch’s response,
What they absolutely fail to do is say from where the provision originated. We just know it was totally not Corker, cause he was the adult in the room.
Other than the CEOs and major shareholders of Verizon, Comcast, and AT&T.
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$!
true fact: today is actually 7048 September, 1998
Zounds! I’ve been had.
(Bolding added)
Is it, though? I mean, is there actually any scientific data suggesting gay or lesbian individuals contract STDs at higher rates than the general populace?
I’ve often wondered if this was just general bigotry or if there’s any scientific basis for it, mostly because they ask about gay sex for donating blood. I’ve been inclined to dismiss this (why would it matter whether it was straight or gay sex?) but have you seen anything that would indicate that a particular STD would be more transmissible among the LGBT population?
Not the LGBT population. The MSM (men who have sex with men) population, who have historically had issues with a high rate of HIV infection specifically. You can yell at me for being politically incorrect, but this is a thing, and it is still a thing, especially for MSM from lower incomes. Epidemiologists project that in the USA 1/2 of black MSM and 1/4 of latino MSM will likely contract HIV, due to low availability of access to PrEP. (There are multiple factors, but the high rate of HIV infection is directly affected by states not taking the Medicaid expansion several years ago.)
Rolling Stone article from a year ago.
'Fraid so:
Stabilized?
The most important liars are rich vested interests; with the repeal of Net Neutrality shouldn’t we expect low-revenue fact-based sites to dwindle in views?
Well dang.
Dang that snopes for once again wrecking perfectly good tall tales!
Nazi Paul Nehlen, who is running against Paul Ryan from the far right, accused a Jew of “pretending to be white”.
Vote Iron Stache, anyway.
One people, one nation, one moustache!
Hm. A Nazi, or Paul Ryan. I mean, one is a Nazi, but the other is Paul Ryan. Are the Democrats running for that seat?
Iron Stache is the Democrat; his name is Randy Bryce, and he’s an iron worker with a mighty fine mustache.
Iron Stache is the Democrat running against Ryan.
It’s no secret that Republcians are stupid, but this video is still worth a look and a laugh. It’s amazing these people can put on their clothes without help.
Meanwhile, has anyone noticed that Roy Moore still has not conceded the Alabama Senate race and is email begging for money to afford a recount.
