I watched the first couple minutes of that and my surviving brain cells struggled out from under the piles of corpses to beg me to stop.
^^^ That. ^^^
“He’s a muslim, an atheist, and a communist!”
I’ve heard it reported that after last night’s Senate Vote on the so-called “Tax Reform” bill, protesters in the gallery were sharing their stories about how the bill would make life worse for them and their families, and the Republicans laughed at them. Hello, compassionate conservatism? I think half your name packed up and fled due to abuse.
How do we know they did?
Because they know their lackey codependent base WILL NEVER CALL THEM ON IT. :smack::rolleyes::mad:
With all the stuff that the GOP was and is doing with or without Trump, including things like trying to kill Obamacare without a plan to replace it, this tax bill, obstructing Obama from sitting a Supreme Court Justice and other Federal judges and then working very quickly to seat their judges once Trump became President, it’s pretty clear that the Republicans will continue to be obstructionist, vengeful against minorities, and extremists even if Trump were to go away. The party needs a real cleansing
Aagh. I could only get through a couple of minutes of it. Unbelievable. One thing is for sure: there’s a lot of work for dentists in that crowd.
I find it pretty hard to laugh at that. Denigrating people with disabilities is not helpful in any way. But, really, compilations like that, with no balance or offset, make it feel like there are scads of people like that, when the reality is that the more scaddy portion of society are not like that.
There’s barely enough teeth for one dentist.
I watched the whole thing. None of that was anything I didn’t already know. It reminded me of sitting in a small bar in any small town, and listening to the folks there. Been there, done that. It’s Republicans. Yes, they are amazingly racist and factphobic. Being racist is natural. Hating Muslims is expected, and -har-har- isn’t racist. (Amazingly, though, it’s the racists that believe it. But it ain’t technically racism, so they got that going for em.) Pathetic, but god dammit there’s a lot of them!
Disabilities? What disabilities? You mean utter ignorance? Stupidity to the point of absurdity? Bill Clinton has AIDS from fraternizing with Magic Johnson?? Are you fucking kidding me? These are people who drive cars, hold down jobs (some of them), go online, reproduce, read and write (some of them) and yes, own guns. I don’t know how many people there are in the USA that are THIS fucking stupid, but I’m shocked and dismayed there are enough for this compilation.
Bear in mind that if you get hit by a bus, survive and end up in a wheelchair, you have a disability. These people have probably been poorly served by the school system and may be suffering the effect of an unbalanced diet as children, as adults, perhaps both. Or maybe too much of that éclair blanc.
What ever the cause, insulting them is pointless. They obviously need help. Even if that means quilting the walls for some of them. Stupidity is not a condition that we should mock or abuse any more than any ethnicity or sexual preference.
Can’t tell if you’re being serious or not, but when stupidity results in President Donald Motherfucking Trump it should be mocked, ridiculed and then some.
The kind of utter stupidity I saw in that video cannot be excused by being “poorly served by the school system” or poor nutrition. And I’m not insulting them: I’m stating facts. If you are 5’1" and I call you “short,” that’s a fact. Sorry if you think that’s an insult.
I will say that these people are prey for FAUX News and the tsunami of uninformed bullshit that clogs social media, a lot of which comes from the phone of their president.
Sure they need help. The Republicans said they would help them and lied.
The Democrats wanted to help them. Obama wanted to help them through the ACA where they could get good medical care and possibly much-needed dental care. But they are too STUPID to see that help was there to be chosen and accepted. These are the people who made up lynch mobs and crowds of witch burners and who cheered by the side of the guillotine when the heads rolled. Stupid, ignorant peabrains who believe blustery demagogues and seem to be incapable of thinking for themselves.
How do YOU suggest we help the guy who hates Socialism (but can’t spell it) because it’s in the middle between Communism and something else–I can’t remember–I’ll look it up… and then can’t figure out how to “look it up.” Seriously, how do we help him? Holy og in heaven.
We have an ethic in this country that goes like, “you’re eighteen years old now, that makes you an adult: <shove> fly, little birdie, fly!” People like those evoke the feeling that, hey, maybe we ought to revisit that standard, in order to make “adulthood” a term that actually means something.
Therein lies the rub - you can’t help those that don’t want it. You can’t force an addict through treatment, and you can just be nice to malignant stupidity. Democrats have been trying for years, and they gave us Donald Trump instead. I’d rather not interact with or discuss them at all, but I refuse to withhold my mockery of the very ignorance they happily wallow in.
Really? Is that “should” based on a consequentialist or a deontological morality?
The ignorant are to be educated where possible. Mockery is not necessarily always the optimum way to do that.
Honey, it’s based on seeing reality and naming it. Big words don’t scare or impress anyone around here.
I completely agree with you. “Where possible.” Right.
Well, yes, but then there is prideful ignorance.
We are all distrustful of some “1%” or other, the wealthiest, the most religious, the most debauched (no, probably no-one here), the fattest, the skinniest, and even the best & worst informed and the most & least tolerant.
I have little sympathy or trust for the most fortunate, but there is a special small, dark, desiccated place in my heart for those willfully and pridefully ignorant. That is not misfortune, that is simple mean spiritedness.
(And deontological does kinda scare me)
