Stupid Republican idea of the day

Well, he’s an idiot, that’s certain - but I’m nearly as much of a Republican candidate for US Senate as he is (and I’m not a Republican). Here’s a profile about him from last September - it sounds like he wishes he was as cool as Trump and/or Roy Moore.

But less popular.

I don’t really have a problem with this one, provided the Governor’s appointee is from the same party as whoever created the vacancy.

Why would you make that a rule? In theory, the governor is appointing that singular person who can best represent her state. And yeah, I know that that person is going to be a member of the governor’s party. But if the will of the people said that party should hold the governor’s mansion, part of that is the knowledge that she will appoint a Senator, should a vacancy occur.

I don’t have a problem with governor appoints (lots of states do it that way), but this is such obvious sour grapes that it has a certain aroma to it (to mix my metaphors a bit).

People don’t think that far ahead. And if they voted for Governor, be HE resigned and the Lt Governor takes over, and we all know what kind of a dweeb THAT guy can be…

Well, my point is if they elected a republican or democrat for senator, the the vacancy should be filled by another republican or democrat.

Here in Minnesota we’re suing the new Lt. Governor because she refuses to resign from her seat in the state Senate, where she serves as President of the Senate.

Why?
The state constitution says that you can’t hold two state offices at the same time.
It also says that if the Lt. Governor resigns (as she did, to take Franken’s seat in the US Senate), then the President of the Senate automatically becomes the new Lt Governor.

Adding in;

The Governor is a Democrat, the new Lt. Governor is a Republican.
She was elected in her district by a more than 2-1 margin. There’s no question that she’d win re-election next fall.
However, the Lt Governor spot only runs for another year, as we have Governor elections this fall.
BUT, by state law, we also have to have a special election to fill her senate seat until the November elections.
Which means that another Republican would run and win, then might not want to give it back to her in the fall. They may run against her this summer for the party nominee!

Which means that she’s unwilling to give up her seat and guaranteed money, but too greedy to turn down the Lt. Governor position.

Scott Walker refuses to call special election to fill to WI seats, 'cause he’s a punk-ass and afraid the GOP will lose the elections. WI law is clear that elections must be held if vacancies happen before May.

They’re doing that in Michigan too with John Conyers seat. Is there a way that a Congressperson can resign “upon election of a replacement”?

Tomi Lahren: Kids eating Tide Pods is the fault of liberals.

She’s right. You never saw kids eating Tide Pods before they banned prayer in schools. #MAGA

Something I figured out before I had to learn it the hard way: parents don’t want to hear criticism of their parenting from non-parents.

And I hope somebody is researching the political affiliations of all the families of kids who ate one of those pods and we find out that 90% of them were GOP, just so it can be tossed back in Miss Lahren’s face.

***Armed ***demonstrators showed up at the Arizona Capitol to protest attempts at immigration reform and harassed all dark skinned people entering the building, including staffers and legislators, including Native Americans, calling them “Illegal” and shouting at them to go back to their home countries.

Don’t anyone dare berate me for calling thump supporters stupid! That’s exactly what this is: sheer, uninformed, blatant, stupid IGNORANCE, on top of a foundation of racist hatred. These people are utterly deplorable-- in fact, that word is too good for them. Jesus Henry Christ.

And, by all means, let’s make sure it’s legal for them to demonstrate while armed. What can possibly go wrong, eh?

Speaking as a white person, I deplore the insinuation that these people were primarily, if not unanimously, white. I am done speaking as a white person.

I agree. Maybe we should let them have the white label and start calling ourselves beige people. Or light tan people.

You and me, we can just kind of fall back on “peckerwood”. Rest of 'em, they’re on their own.

How about “spruce”? I am not white, I am spruce. Has a nice clean sound to it.

I was once told not to describe people using foods. That immediately made me realize that I am almost the exact shade of a boiled potato.

Ah, but where do you fall on the Sheamus-R Truth Scale?

Holy fuck. A bit darker than the first, a bit lighter than the second.
