I love how an organization that supports physical guns gives an award to someone for being brave enough to face metaphysical bullets.
Why not give it to someone who was actually shot at? How about the coach who tried to protect students in Florida with his body and who died for it, the way that people do when they really have to display courage under actual fire?
It would be nice to see the NRA and CPAC decision-makers put on the spot with this question. Talk about ‘alternate realities’…metaphysical bullets, really?
Hey, man, that coach was a numbnuts. He should have had a gun. Then he could have taken the shooter down. And maybe not be dead. They give awards to bullet-throwers, not bullet-catchers.
The thing is that Ian Walters is 100% factually correct in this case. Steele was hired based on pure tokenism because he was a black guy, and it was the wrong thing to do. Because:
a) Tokenism doesn’t work, monorities see right through it and instead of just looking bigoted, you end up looking bigoted and condescending.
b) Steele was incompetent. Which doesn’t have anything to do with his being black, except for possibly the fact that any black person who supports the Republicans can’t be all that perceptive.
To be perfectly honest, the top “Stupid Republican Idea Of The Day” needs to just be a picture of Trump sitting in the Oval Office, every day from now until whenever he’s finally removed from the White House.
The daily deluge of lies, distractions, mendacity and cluelessness coming from this administration is just overwhelming, and who do we have to thank for that? The spineless Republican Party, that just sits by and lets it all happen. Can you imagine how quickly articles of impeachment would have been flying if a Democratic president did 1/10th of this shit? Hell, I firmly believe that if Hillary had been elected, the GOP would have started impeachment proceedings January 21, 2017.
I mean … who remembers Trump wrote up that blatantly false description of Don Jr’s meeting with the Russians, a description that was immediately exposed as a lie when Don Jr. himself released his emails on the meeting? Who remembers Trump being completely unable to call out white supremacists and neo-Nazis after Charlottesville, with that bizarre press conference in Trump Tower? Who can possibly remember everything this moldy lump of curdled orange juice has done over the past couple of years, because EVERY SINGLE DAY brings another outrageous load of crap spewing from the Oval Office that just erases the previous outrageous truckloads?
Today, in the course of attacking the deputy who didn’t go into the Stoneman Douglas school, he has the ridiculous audacity* to claim he would have personally run into the school, even if he didn’t have a weapon. Say what? You serious, Clark? And this stream of bullshit just washes away all the other bullshit, we move on, and the Republicans in Congress sit on their hands and let the buffoonery continue.
(Deep breath.)
Sorry for the rant. Why, yes, I did finally finish “Fire And Fury” last night, why do you ask?
Perhaps “The Audacity Of Ridiculousness” would make a good book title for Trump’s (ghostwritten) memoirs.
We could reach into the grab bag of Trump-related stupidity, mendacity, corruption and incompetence and randomly pull out something that would be The Defining Scandal of some previous administration and/or grounds for impeachment. This year, it’s just another day at work.
These Republicans are so friggin’ entitled. “Do everything the way I want it, otherwise I’m being persecuted.” Fuck this guy. Can you imagine if a Democratic governor had threatened a corporation’s taxes if they didn’t support ACORN or something like that?
There was a story in another thread that prompted me to head over to the Moonietimes[sup]*[/sup] to see if they were covering it. The story up front was about the Public Interest Legal Foundation (bunch of PILFers if you ask me) suing over a hundred thousand alleged non-citizen voters in PA. A state that whatisname carried in the last big election. By a very narrow margin.
Sounds like they are treading dangerous ground there.
