Utah just passed a law making it legal for kids to play unsupervised. Adaher’s point is not entirely without merit.
Another example of the problem with 24-hour news channels (may Ted Turner burn in hell) - any idiocy that happens anywhere gets broadcast to the world (or at least the entire US), and people think a single occurrence of something reflects a nationwide norm.
So, one mom gets arrested/cited for letting her kid play in a park across the street from the McDonald’s where she is applying for a job and it’s nanny state hell everywhere.
I trace most of the problems in America to two things:
CNN and the 24-hour news cycle when there just isn’t that much news
Ronald Reagan and his demonizing of government: The nine scariest words “I’m from the government and I’m here to help”
And the back seats of cars are waaaaaay smaller now.
Intercourse. Kids are waiting longer to have intercourse.
Thank blowjobs. Kids are still getting it on as much as ever. Because they’re hormonal kids.
Most cars have reclining seats these days, though, which kind of picks up the slack. And with today’s ubiquitous SUVs, if kids get to drive them, it is rather easy to make room in the back.
Yes, because we all know laws are only passed to address real concerns, and never as a sop to people who whine at lawmakers.
Stupid Republican electoral tricks:
Didn’t the Democrats do the same thing in Mass., possibly even switching the rules twice (depending on which party held the governor’s mansion)?
So rather than doing the right thing, the GOP wants their turn?
How about if both side behaved like adults rather than a toddler?
What I find amazing is that both sides want to blame the other for wrong-doing but want to do it themselves.
How about some fucking ethics and fair play?
If there’s one thing these past couple, difficult years have taught me ; it’s that people regardless of politics or any other bias tend to have ironclad rationalizations for their doing shit they won’t tolerate from others. In many if not most cases it’s not even active, knowing, self-acknowledged hypocrisy. They really buy their own bullshit. The human mind is astoundingly good at crafting seemingly coherent/internally consistent narratives out of contradictory elements.

And it’s a law that does nothing. It leaves everything up to police discretion–exactly the same as it was before. It’s more political theater than law.
Even funnier (or more tragic, depending on your perspective) are the kids who have anal sex so they can remain “virgins”. This is really something people do.
Hey, it’s a valid … loophole. So I’ve heard. (2 click-rule spoiler)
Its a myth that anal sex cannot result in pregnancy. Where do you think little baby Republicans come from?
If there’s a loop in there, do consult a physician.
When a Mommy Republican and a Daddy Republican are married to other people…
Christopher Wylie, the Cambridge Analytica whistleblower, held a closed door meeting with the Democratic members of the House Judiciary and Oversight committees. Not a single Republican bothered to come.
Joe Walsh, he of “I didn’t pay my child support”, took time off from actually bashing Trump today to say that the reason why we need AR 15s is because of to prevent what’s happening with Alfie Evans.
For those who don’t know, Alfie Evans is a baby in the UK who was declared brain dead by his doctors, but his parents refused to accept it. He was taken off life support and the parents have gone so far as to have Alfie declared a citizen of Italy so he can be taken there, but they want him put back on life support in the meantime.
So, I’m not sure if Joe Walsh is calling for armed idiots to storm the hospital and force the medical staff to put Alfie back on life support, or to take him out of the hospital and forcibly taken to Italy. Or just what.
I had to Google to make sure it wasn’t the singer/guitarist Joe Walsh.
