You are thinking of the Eagles Forum. Totally different.
Paul Ryan just fired the House chaplain. Nobody is really sure why.
Although I wouldn’t be surprised if this Joe Walsh is a member of the Eagle Forum, Phyllis Schlafly’s group.
During the Zuckerberg hearing, Republicans were more interested in trying to roast him about alleged censoring of conservative black bloggers Diamond and Silk, which, of course, turned out not to be true.
They both actually went to testify before the House Committee, and Sheila Jackson-Lee asked them if they had ever taken money from the Trump campaign. They said no. Turns out, according to Trump’s Federal Elections Commission filings, they were paid.
Lying under oath? Good Republican values.

Mike Kennedy, Republican state legislator from Utah, just beat Mitt Romney at the Republican convention in the state, preventing Mitt from getting the Republican nomination for the Senate and requiring him to go into a primary election.
Mike Kennedy thinks we should limit health care because people die when they go to hospitals.

Jesus. Kennedy is an MD. That’s “Dr.” Kennedy. So much for the Hippocratic oath.
Where are these assholes coming from? No shit “Doctor” people die in hospitals. In fact that’s probably where most people die.

Yeah, but it’s cheaper if they die elsewhere.
Yeah, but fiery vehicle wreck, maybe not so much. Those are costly to deal with and make us kind of squicked.
But doctors make more money if they die in hospitals.

Sometimes the preacher throws the moneylenders out of the temple; sometimes it’s the other way around.
eschereal the seriously twisted:

Still cheaper than dying of cancer or heart disease and sitting in a hospital, having thousands of dollars of resources poured into keeping you alive for another day.
He makes more money if his donors save on their tax bill.
In other stupid republican news. Stupid republican state rep tells the state’s sheriffs to ignore the executive order of the republican governor.
Failure by local courts and law enforcement to send timely data to the state, which forwards it to National Instant Criminal Background Check System, could mean guns are being purchased by people who are ineligible to do so.
“There is just no excuse for this data not being sent and I can’t figure it out,” Kasich said.
Eh, not so stupid. In fact, one of the smarter things from republicans these days.
Ohio Rep. Candice Keller, R-Middletown, said the executive order appears to be infringing on a person’s 2nd Amendment rights.
Ohio Rep. Candice Keller, R-Middletown, said Gov. John Kasich’s executive order appears to be infringing on a person’s 2nd Amendment rights.
“I am astonished at this action and disappointed that our governor has no seeming knowledge or understanding of our U.S. Constitution, and our right to carry without infringement from government of any type,” Keller said. “I’m asking all county sheriffs to completely ignore this executive order. Executive orders are not a law-making tool. We have an un-infringed right to carry. Executive orders are not a tool to make law. It is only tool to enforce the existing law. That is why it’s called an executive order.”
Ahhh, there’s the stupid.
Just to heap on the stupid, we have our good sheriff Arpaio, er I mean Jones:
Butler County’s top cop said Kasich’s action is nothing more than a stunt to raise his national profile for another run for president.
Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones said his department is in compliance with state laws “as far as I know. ”
Monday’s executive order “is just to help (Kasich’s) political campaign to be president of the Untied States,” Jones, an ardent President Trump supporter said.
I like this quote:
How would he have the answers without reports and recommendations?
Well, yeah, we are. And it’s for a more disgusting reason than you were probably imagining. During the tax bill debate last year, Conroy offered this prayer:
“As legislation on taxes continues to be debated this week and next, may all members be mindful that the institutions and structures of our great nation guarantee the opportunities that have allowed some to achieve great success, while others continue to struggle,” Conroy said.
“May their efforts these days guarantee that there are not winners and losers under new tax laws, but benefits balanced and shared by all Americans,” he added.
No wonder Ryan was outraged.
Ryan was pissed about Conroy giving out Communion wafers for free. No handouts!
Some of the caucus members kept going back for refills of the wine.
Maybe the House doesn’t need a chaplain. If a member needs spiritual guidance, there are plenty of leaders of every faith in DC. Axe the position and use the money saved to help the city’s poor.
Are you serious? What does giving to the poor have to do with Christianity?
A report I read this morning said the Evangelicals among the House Republicans didn’t want a Catholic priest as chaplain, they’re calling for a pastor with a family.
