Josh Hader is a pitcher for the Milwaukee Brewers, who was chosen to the National League All Star team. At just about the same time as he appeared in the All Star game, old social media posts of his came out from when he was a teenager, blatantly anti-gay and racist. Baseball immediately ordered him into sensitivity counseling, and he has apologized for the posts, both online and to his teammates in person.
Last night, he started his first pitching assignment since the All Star break.
The home Milwaukee crowd gave him a standing ovation.
Josh Hader Receives Standing Ovation From Brewers Fans Following Revelation Of Racist Tweets?
I’ve not followed the story enough to get the punchline.
Is it because he is no longer deemed a racist, or that he is perceived a racist that he got the big “O”?
That’s a conspiracy. The New York Post is describing a conspiracy.
I’m not saying they’re wrong, mind.
My interpretation is that they’re cheering his racism and homophobia.
The blogger’s view seems to be that a standing O is a somewhat incongruous response to a recent public apology. The blogger appears to be inviting his readers to conclude that the message from the crowd was “Don’t let the snowflakes get you down, Josh! That was dirty pool, digging into your Twitter archive like that! Thanks for doing right by us racist homophobes eight years ago! We understand that you won’t be able to again until Dear Leader Donald gives us the go-ahead to start the Purge, but don’t you worry, we’ll save a tiki torch for you!”
Of course, the blogger wouldn’t dream of outright saying that.
I would love to believe otherwise. Sadly, that would mean I was genuinely crazy.
That’s what I figured, but I had a glimmer of hopeful optimism, now squashed like a firefly on the windshield of a speeding semi.
At least it wasn’t between a motorcyclist’s teeth.
What better way to brighten a smile?
Haders gotta hade.
Waitaminute, they already had the All-Star game? I always thought that was in the middle of August.
I’m not sure I follow the humor so I’ll just ask: are you being serious?
Do you think the Republican party should court Hispanic votes because they have the right kind of hate?
That post presents a stereotype of Hispanics that aligns with how the Republicans *used *to stereotype themselves, so it makes sense in a way. But that isn’t primarily what they stand for now, is it?
To be fair, while I think it’s legitimate to dig into someone’s past social media comments, it’s a little excessive to dig all the way back to their teen years (and how many years ago was that, for Hader?). We expect teens to be immature, ignorant, and stupid. It’s kind of in the job description. The hope is that they eventually grow out of it.

He’s 24, so it wasn’t that long ago. And it’s not like anything actually happened to him. He made a public apology (whether it was ordered by the Brewers/MLB or not) and that was pretty much it.
Fox News dumbasses book the wrong guest and get an earful instead of the expected buttkissing.
Love it!
