Stupid Republican idea of the day

Paul LePage has certified the results of ME-02 but put “stolen election” next to his signature.

As I keep saying, over the objections of the “rational” and “patient” posters, Republicans are coming for your democracy. They’re coming for your existence. They are an existential threat to your freedom.

Do we just stand here and enjoy getting punched in the balls?

Mitch on shutdown: “NMP.”

“McConnell at center of shutdown impasse but uncharacteristically disengaged”

Fine, Mitch, whatever you say. But on 03JAN2019 when Nancy brings you a passed version of the same CR you delivered on a 100-0 vote before Christmas, you just be ready to pass it again, toot sweet. Nobody’s going to bitch you out if you don’t get unanimity a second time; just get it onto the Resolute desk.

Anti-immigrant bigot Rep. Mo Brooks on the wall: Democratic leaders in Congress have “American blood” on their hands for their refusal to allocate $5 billion for its construction.

What a bigoted piece of shit. “Immigrants are dangerous and evil” is basically mainstream Republican policy nowadays.

Speaking of hypocritical fetid pieces of shit:

Jerry Falwell Jr. slams homeless in bonkers interview praising Trump: ‘A poor person never gave anyone a job’

He’s just doing his duty by preaching the Gospel of Supply-Side Jesus.

More proof that Falwell knows nothing about Jesus.

A man who inherited his position from his father doesn’t understand economics, what a shock.

“What good does it do to make Trump his Lord and Savior and yet lose their soul?”
–3 Corinthians or something

Nitpick: I think “What good does it do to make Trump his Lord and Savior and thereby lose their soul?” would be more appropriate. Agree with the sentiment, though.

If they lock Trump in as the nominee, and he gets impeached and removed from office, then what? Can someone run for office after a successful impeachment?

From the source material: “Judgment in Cases of Impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from Office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office of honor, Trust or Profit under the United States: but the Party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to Indictment, Trial, Judgment and Punishment, according to Law.”

Traditionally the “convicted” have received that full “sentence”, so, no. Well, okay, somebody could run and even win after being so disqualified, but they couldn’t take office.

Now it’s not just South Carolina – the RNC itself is looking to change it’s rules in order to keep Trump from getting primaried.

Typical GOP tactic. If the game isn’t going your way, change the rules.

Competition used to be a centerpiece of conservative philosophy; now it’s the anathema.

Ronna Romney-McDaniel’s role in all this is going to make for some awkward family gatherings. Fortunately, Mitt’s family is big enough that they could both attend and never run into each other.

I don’t know why, but the Romney kids remind me of the Osmonds – or am I mistaking them for another kid band?

Mittens has already caved, saying on Jake Tapper’s show that he supports Individual 1’s Wall.

Rudy Giuliani is ranting about witches:
“According to CNN witches favor Democrats and they are offended that the Meuller investigation is described as a Witch Hunt. There is no reason for the witches to be offended because Witch Hunt derives from, for example, the Salem Witch Hunts where people were executed unjustly.”

Jesus? Isn’t he that hunky guy with flowing hair, neatly trimmed beard, and the physique of a carpenter?
