Stupid Republican idea of the day

I suppose there’s Illegal Mexico, which is where the Illegal Mexicans come from.

Too bad they corrected it and issued an apology. It would’ve been the only goid thing to come from the current administration if Tan the Conman had repeated it in one of his tweets.

I guess ‘mexican’ has become a generic term, like zipper and aspirin.

Fox News issued an apology? I’m gonna need a cite on that.

Given Fox’ history, I have trouble believing this wasn’t done on purpose, perhaps even higher up on the Fox food chain than some random schmuck who types up chyrons.

What does this say about the respect for reality that exists in an organization where somebody with responsibility could even think of writing the words “Mexican countries”?

Yes, I know, the one that puts “(D)” after the names of Republicans who get caught.

Doubling down on the racism, Tennessee Senator Marsha Blackburn says that until the US-Mexico border is closed, “every town is a border town.”

That’s right----if we don’t seal that border, scary brown people can enter ANY town and turn it into the type of hellhole that scary brown people prefer!

Glad I’m not in the dog-whistle business—the Republicans have clearly stopped using them.

So, they’re going to keep it closed until they completely eliminate drugs, human sex trafficking, and gangs?

Good luck with that.

And if they find and drugs, human sex trafficking and gangs that originate in the US, well, goddamn it, they’ll just go ahead and shut that down too!

Have the troglodyte right-wing always been such fucking cowards, or is this a more recent development?

Yes. Black people, Jewish “anarchists”, Communists, Muslims, Mexicans, whoever: the right-wing has always met any indication of a threat from some small subset of any group with hysterical paranoia about needing to destroy or expel all members of the group.

To be fair, the wealthy-elite leaders who encourage their paranoia are generally not so much scared themselves as opportunistically trying to exploit the paranoia for the benefit of wealthy elites.

Yes, FUD is a frequent resort for the right. (Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt.)

Their target voters may be psychologically more responsive to those stimuli than are voters on the left. There’s a lot of research on voting behavior in response to stimuli intended to provoke fear and/or anxiety. One recent write-up offers an overview of a lot of research relating to the use of emotion-provoking components in politics:

A new definition of chutzpah:

Mitch McConnell: Time to stop Democrats’ ‘obstruction for the sake of obstruction’

I’ve got two words for that M.F. S.O.B.: Merrick Garland.

I don’t hate the president, but I hate Mitch McConnell with the fire of a thousand suns.

Oh, what did Democrats do now, refuse to hold hearings on a Supreme Court nominee? One of these days that flap-necked motherfucker is going to be out of the picture, and American democracy will be far better for it.

I used to say the same about Jesse Helms. It didn’t get any better when left the scene.

Come on. There’s enough hate to go around!

The man has no shame, as evidenced by this nugget from his piece:

Gee, Mitch, maybe you shouldn’t have started it in the first place! :smack:

Considering how many people feel that way, it’s odd that certain mysterious elements of McConnell’s past don’t get more attention. For example:

That’s just the beginning, but I’ll leave it there. DailyKos also has a write-up of the evidence for…odd doings, at

The perquisites of power, apparently, keep all this out of the news.

In my view that’s not so much chutzpah as a BDSM thing. He’s begging for someone, anyone to kick him in the nuts, repeatedly. No, but seriously, there are not enough "fuck youuuuu"s in the world.
