Stupid Republican idea of the day

I’m sure with his 17% approval rating, Dems will jump right on this entreaty of McConnell’s.

Well then, a TRUE sadist would just tell him “No,” wouldn’t he?

He wouldn’t have to beg. I’ve been in his presence more than once over the years, and the urge to do so is nearly overwhelming.

so sorry

nice little graphic showing the corporate investments that really pay off.

I’d like to see how much they donated to Democrats as well. Corporations are notorious for playing both sides of the aisle to hedge their bets and I am one of those weirdo Socialists who feel that on some issues (this one included) the Democrats do not do nearly enough to distance themselves from the GOP.

Fox “reporter” Lawrence Jones III “reporting” from the border wearing a bullet proof vest, because it’s so dangerous down there, I guess.

The NRA says the women accusing Joe Biden of inappropriate touching are part of a plot by Bernie Sanders to get Michael Bloomberg elected so he can take away your guns.

Boy, he’s a clever one, that Bloomberg.

As conspiracy theories go, that’s definitely one of them. I mean, I’ve seen claims that Sanders and/or his supporters are behind the Biden allegations but I’ve seen no reason to believe it, and certainly nothing to suggest this has anything to do with Bloomberg of all people.

Mind you, the NRA are probably trying to distract from the far more credible conspiracy theory that the Russians used them to funnel money to Republicans.

How does one win an election…when he’s not even running?

See how clever he is?

They can’t - if they distance themselves to the point where they alienate business, then big business will just throw more of their chips in with republicans. I’m also suspicious that Howard Schultz is running for president to make sure that the right kind of Democrat wins the nomination. If Bernie or someone too far to the left emerges as the nominee, Schultz will sabotage Democrats. I don’t doubt that Schultz is disgusted with Trump, but right now, there’s no reason for big business not to keep voting for the guy. Yes, he’s an economics moron, but Trump’s decisions haven’t shown up on the balance sheet yet and probably won’t for some time. By contrast, the decisions made by Bernie Sanders or a left wing Democrat would show up on the balance sheet almost immediately.

And this is why Democrats suck. I don’t think it’s the zero-sum game you make it out to be, of course, but ultimately with regard to a great many things, Democrats suck.

They’ll get my vote because Republicans are demonstratively worse and I am not an idiot who doesn’t understand Duverger’s Law, nor have I lived in a cave so I have seen what Republicans in power do, especially to minorities and the poor.

But they still suck.

The reason Democrats suck, the reason both parties suck, probably has roots in the type of political system that we have, which gives a single person, the president, an enormous amount of political power, or at least enormous political potential. There are actually factions within the Democratic party. In a more parliamentary-type system, these factions could become their own political party and could form coalition governments. But fractured government under this system makes the president potentially a very powerful individual, particularly if a president can align ideologically with the party or parties that support common interests. I’m not sure that the Constitution made it this way, but this is what we’ve evolved into, it would seem.

Of course none of this is to say that parliamentary governments always function as well as intended, either. Case in being being the UK right now.

However, just a fashion statement. The vest seems to be missing the ceramic ballistic plates…

So what’s your solution? What should the Democrats do?

Colorado female state Senator votes against equal pay for women. “I just can’t take part in something that is so focused against a white man because frankly I feel white men have done a lot for this country and this legislature.”
Female US Senator votes against equal pay resolution because 'white men have done a lot' | SBS The Feed?

Only if Bernie also gets compliant majorities in the House AND Senate. Which ain’t gonna happen.

Where’s the head explodey smiley?

On reflection, though, it’s hard to fault her logic. Macaroni and cheese with hot dogs is fucken DELICIOUS!
