Stupid Republican idea of the day

ajit Fucking pai says that states, counties, cities, et al, may not impose regulations on cable broadband providers — because, he removed the FCC from internet issues, so he has to flex the authority that he gave up.

Yes, it is. But now I’m curious about the process that resulted in Charlotte being chosen as the convention site. Wikipedia* says that choice was announced on July 18, last year.

How many cities did they have to look at before they found one that would let them put a crown on the logo with some reasonable excuse for doing so (such as that it’s on one of the official flags of the city)?

Because you know that Trump is thrilled about that crown. And/or demanded it.

As much as I hate the group of assholes and criminals that is the new GOP. I very much doubt they could pull that off. Too stupid. Or… well… the Presidential seal was hacked and shown behind trumps back. But I think they are too stupid to do that on purpose. They where trolled. It’s easy really to troll Trump and get him to do what ever you want him to do. Just praise him. I think he has a faint glimmer of what it might be like to have an honest to God real friend, but I doubt he has ever had one.

Let me see, what is it about Charleston? Could it be that little built-up sandbar near the mouth of the harbor, that has some sort of historical significance?

 Charlotte, NC != Charleston, SC, or am I missing your point?

oops

It’s simple. Charlotte was the site of the 2012 Democratic convention, which by all accounts was a huge success. Trump and the RNC have to prove that they can do better.

Ddamn; I don’t like that guy. Stupid smug asshole.

Maybe.

I still think the RNC folks thought they’d have an easier time dealing with Donald because he’d be so tickled about the crown.

Laura Loomer has announced her candidacy for Congress.
Anti-Muslim Activist Laura Loomer to Run for Congress?

I’m not finding confirmation that this is still the case (as redistricting could have changed it), but the Florida Congressional District she’s running for, the 21st, contained Mar-a-Lago in 2017:

https://www.politico.com/states/florida/story/2017/03/congresswoman-asks-white-house-for-funds-to-reimburse-palm-beach-police-airport-for-protecting-trump-110713

Loomer, as noted in your linked article, is banned from Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. That might be a badge of honor in the circles she slithers in, but it will certainly complicate running a political campaign.

She is, but her campaign staff, supporters, Russian bots, and the like, aren’t. Not only that, but it’s possible that as a political candidate, they may all feel they have to allow her back ON.

That would be an odd precedent to set (since almost anyone can run for political office), but who knows how those unregulated entities reason things out?–you could be right.

She really is the idealized Republican candidate. I hope she runs. She really does show exactly what the party stands for.

Hatred.
Trolling.
Stunts.
Insults.
Working closely with Russians.
That is the current Republican policy manual in a nutshell.

I’ve had some bad news today; this is a welcome change of pace. :stuck_out_tongue:

I wonder if there is a follow-up to that 2+y/o story.

Or maybe they mistook it for Charlottesville, the site of one of their *own *signature achievements.

The local taxpayers did receive money from all taxpayers (including themselves, presumably). From April of this year:

Palm Beach County taxpayers reimbursed $5.6 million for Trump security – Sun Sentinel

Those amounts are but a fraction of what Trump’s frequent vacations cost US taxpayers in total, of course.

This isn’t a news story, just something that occurred to me today.

Just at a guess, what percentage of people who bleat about Republicans being the Party of Lincoln and totally not racist do ya figure have a Confederate flag in their possession?

That doesn’t cover the cost of disrupted businesses in the area or the blocked roads and detours for residents.
