Stupid Republican idea of the day

Republican Group Hits Donald Trump With Critical Ad: ‘What Is He Afraid Of?’

Who are these interesting people? Heh, 10 bucks say they sure ain’t (R.) congresscritters nor senators.
Bush? Powell? Rice? Schultz? Romney?
Heh, what a hoot if Graham turned out to be one of them.

Honestly, fuck anti-Trump Republicans. They’re not opposed to the ruinous tax policies. They’re not opposed to the concentration camps. They’re not opposed to the white supremacists. They’re only pissed that he’s a crude, inarticulate, small-time grifter. I’d respect the Never Trumpers more if any of them would oppose his actual actions. Anti-intellectual, anti-media, anti-poor, anti-minority… this is who the Republicans are. If Trump had the verbal skills to pretty it all up for the WSJ OpEd page, there would be no anti-Trump Republicans. They want us to believe the people who ran torture gulags and killed a few hundred thousand Iraqis for no good reason are now the good guys?

Fuck the lot of them.

I believe you’re correct in thinking that no member of Congress is a member (or openly a member) of Republicans for the Rule of Law. As far as I can tell, it was begun by conservative (and never-Trumper) pundit Bill Kristol. (This article contains a transcript of one of the group’s videos, in which Kristol directly addresses GOP members of the House and Senate:

But there are a lot of prominent-but-not-in-Congress Republicans–or former Republicans–who are at least allied with RFTROL, if not official members: David Frum, Jennifer Rubin, Rick Wilson, Rick Taylor, David Jolly, and of course Kellyanne’s husband George Conway.

John Dean, by the way, seems to be approaching endorsing the theory that Kellyanne and George Conway are the authors of the “Anonymous” book A Warning:

(A bit of a sidetrack, but it’s in the ballpark of relevancy, given that Dean himself is a lifelong Republican…)

omg, that would be HILARIOUS! I’d consider forgiving Kellyanne for most of the horseshit she’s been spewing for the past three years if this turned out to be true.

Individual 1’s campaign Twitter account wants the Washington Post to prove that the image of Individual 1 superimposed over Stallone’s body was doctored.

Oh dear. I hope this doesn’t portend an actual naked picture of…

Wow. Thanks for posting this. Exactly a year from now, I’d like to see the putrid scum Trump settling in for a lovely “vacation” in The Hague.

(Apologies to harmless, innocent (if smelly) lake algae.)

Now this is a bit of weirdness. A large pork producer is recalling 250 tons of pork because it was not inspected by the USDA.

  • The problem was discovered after the agency heard from an anonymous tipster that the Maywood, Illinois-based company was selling products without the benefit of federal inspection, the FSIS said in a statement.

The raw, intact pork pieces were produced on Saturdays over the course of a nearly two-year period, from Nov. 25, 2017, to Nov. 9, 2019, according to the federal agency.*

Ok, they are recalling raw pork that is two years old? I mean, really?

More to the point, though, the producers have pushed the agency to “streamline” the inspection process, basically to reduce federal inspection and rely much more heavily on “self-inspection”: we should trust them to make sure that their processes and sources are good enough.

Which kind of leaves me confused. There was this recall because of inadequate inspection, but why should it be a problem when the USDA thinks the producers themselves should be the primary inspectors?

Devin Nunes is suing Esquire Magazine for $75 million over this article:

Fascinating article.

Got a cite about the lawsuit?

nm. Found it.

A bill has been introduced in the Ohio legislature by Republican representatives Candice Keller and Ron Hood that would require any doctor treating a woman for ectopic pregnancy to implant the fetus in her uterus. There is just one problem; that procedure doesn’t exist, and has never been done before.

So any doctor treating an ectopic pregnancy which requires removing the fetus must go to jail. Women with this condition may not be able to find a doctor willing to risk jail, so they may not get treatment for a condition that can result in death.

Oh, and the bill also bans abortion outright and defines a fertilized egg as an “unborn child”.

It also appears to punish doctors, women and children as young as 13 with “abortion murder” if they “perform or have an abortion”. This crime is punishable by life in prison. Another new crime, “aggravated abortion murder”, is punishable by death, according to the bill.

How are these women and girls getting pregnant? Photosynthesis? One man can impregnate a hundred women a month. Where’s the penalties for them? I don’t see a star rising over Bethlehem.

I already posted about this a few days ago in post #42837 above.

The man didn’t do anything wrong. He was just doing what comes naturally. He put the sperm where it was supposed to go. It’s the woman’s body that failed to perform correctly! She needs to be straightened out and then punished so she won’t mess up like this again! And the earlier we can give females this message, the better! Praise be!

See how that works? :dubious:

I gagged both times that I read it. :frowning:

Danielle Stella is the Republican running for Ilhan Omar’s seat. She’s about as crazy as they come. She’s been repeating the proven false conspiracy theory that Omar has been giving secret information to Iran. Stella then said that if that allegation, Omar should be tried for treason and hanged. Twitter has banned her.

I’ve been binge-watching “The Handmaid’s Tale” TV series lately. The final two words in your remark are perfect. And a little chilling.

People are getting robocalls telling them to quit making anti-Individual 1 social media posts. The callers claim to be representing Jack Posobiec’s Citizens For Trump, but there’s no proof for it.
