Stupid Republican idea of the day

I wonder if they’ll make the sick people sign their pledge, too.

Dr. Fauci gets a security detail after Individual 1 fans make threats against him for not falling in line with the Individual 1 lies.

Reading about Fauci this morning, I learned that people were ready to tar and feather him back in the day when he warned about the AIDS crisis that was about to strike. :frowning:

Brian Kemp, governor* of Georgia says that "we didn’t know that until the last 24 hours” that coronavirus could be transmitted asymptomatically, which is why he resisted implementing more serious measures.

Except, of course, that that has been known for months.

*As secretary of state before the 2018 election, he controlled the process of his own election, and purged thousands of voters from the rolls in the months before it.

He’s either a lying fuckhead or deliberately ignorant. When the news first broke the stories were mentioning the ten day or so latent period before symptoms appear I told DesertRoomie, “This is gonna be bad. Even people who want to do the right thing won’t realize they have it until it’s too late and there are too many who won’t care at all.”

He’s a Republican, so it’s a pretty good chance that he is both a lying fuckhead AND deliberately ignorant.

Roy Moore to represent pastor who was arrested for holding services in defiance of the stay at home order.

A logical guess would be that the pastor has a 13 year old daughter.

At least that pastor will face the music, based on what I’ve seen, Moore is no better a lawyer than Guilliani. The pastor will be lucky not to end up with the chair.

Say, where is Rudy, anyway? Seems like we haven’t heard from him in months.

Don’t worry. Bill Barr has kiboshed all investigations into Friend Rudy. Barr and Rudy are getting ready to spring their NEWEST!! LATEST!! BIGLIEST!! investigations into that wily corrupt politician, Joe Biden and his CORRUPT!! ILLEGAL!! COLLUSION!! with Ukraine… probably along about July.

Rudy is living on a farm, way out of town, where he can play outside with all the other lawyers. He’s very happy there.

Not exactly way out of town, as such. The farm is on the SE edge of town, almost within sight of Kirtland AFB. Owned, of course, by Saul Goodman.

Saw either a Facebook or Twitter post where he was explaining/defending Trump only sending supplies to governors who treat him right, probably from the weekend.

I believe his analogy was: “Sometimes you gotta lose a game of golf to the boss.”

Here’s a new kind of Republican stupid: publicly admitting that if more people vote, Republicans will lose. Of course it’s true, but since when have Trump or any other Republicans been willing to speak the truth? You’d think the last thing they’d want to admit is that most people are against them.

And yet, on Fox, Trump said about efforts to fund increased mail-in voting options, “The things they had in there were crazy. They had things — levels of voting that, if you ever agreed to it, you’d never have a Republican elected in this country again.”

And here in Georgia, the Republican speaker of the state House, David Ralston, unhappy that election officials have just mailed applications for absentee ballots for the May 19 primary to every voter in the state, agreed: “The president said it best ― this will be extremely devastating to Republicans and conservatives in Georgia.”

News flash: Republicans oppose democracy. Film at 11.

The Florida unemployment service is crashing at record rates, and even Republicans are admitting that the process was designed by Rick Scott to prevent people from getting benefits.

Any sentence that begins with “Trump said it best” is sure to be way off the charts for levels of crazy.

Just a friendly reminder that the Republican party is continuing its assault on the judiciary by nominating and confirming supremely unqualified ideological extremists to positions they have done absolutely nothing to earn.

Political hack and local idiot Justin Walker gets Trump’s nomination to the US Court of Appeals. I have no doubt that yet another Unqualified ranking from the ABA will do nothing to slow down his rise from drooling partisan idiot to “Associate Justice” thanks to a political party bent on destroying the judicial branch.

So, once again, fuck the Republican party, where partisan ideology is the only qualification you need for some of the most important judicial jobs in the country.

Florida’s unemployment system has always been notoriously difficult and onerous. IME it was that way over 20 years ago so I’m not surprised by this story.
