Stupid Republican idea of the day

True, but what will the US do if Twitter just didn’t pay? Block Twitter in America?

Twitter’s response: blocked another of Trump’s inciting tweets. Notably, with a message that the tweet may be in the public’s interest, so it could be clicked to view the original.

I guess one reason would be that it’s easier to not move its HQ and still tell the US Government (or at least Trump) to go to hell. It’s not like there’s some legal sanction the administration can unilaterally apply here.

Tell them that voting in person makes it easier for the deep state to put them in a FEMA camp(whatever that is) where Hilary will harvest their organs for illegal immigrants.

The court said the definition as interpreted by the Texas Democratic Party, which had filed lawsuits in both state and federal court on this matter, would be overly broad and enable things like “being too tired to drive to a polling place” to count as a physical condition.

“It would swallow the other categories of voters eligible for mail-in voting,” the opinion states. “We agree, of course, that a voter can take into consideration aspects of his health and his health history that are physical conditions in deciding whether, under the circumstances, to apply to vote by mail because of disability. We disagree that lack of immunity, by itself, is one of them.”
That’s not my reading of his statement. Based on the context of the article, I think that he’s saying that if we extend the definition of disability to contain lack of immunity that definition would cover (swallow) a whole host of other excuses, such as “being too tired to drive to a polling place”.

But I may be wrong. In any case, IMHO, fear of death should be sufficient to allow for mail in voting. Regardless of disability or lack there of.

I would like to see this continue - put pressure on Trump and the GOP to overreact. I seriously doubt they want to abandon Twitter, as it’s the most effective medium out there to spread invective.

Twitter is not banning Trump, just putting disclaimers on some of his more extreme posts. Complaining about Twitter is, in some ways, like complaining about Fox News. They don’t even have to do this with every extreme tweet - just a few here and there.

And for once, a bit of good news: ‘Rich Mitch’: Republican group that infuriated Trump takes aim at Senate leader in new ad

Some Republicans decry Trump’s takeover of the party, but for the most part just sit on the sidelines and hope their party will return to normal.

It won’t. The never Trump and moderate GOP have to side with Democrats in the same way that Eisenhower had to take down Joe McCarthy and in the same way that Goldwater had to tell Nixon to pack his bags. It’s the only way to deal with this cancer. They can’t just beat Trump; they have to beat his enablers, too, and it starts with Mitch McConnell.

Good point.

Devin Nunes says the only way he can win is by ballot harvesting.

They have to disband the party and liquidate and disperse its assets.

Preferably to me. Its liabilities and financial obligations they can assign to the America-hating fuckstick.

The best they can do - not just for the party but for the nation -is to ensure that the worst extreme cannot win a legitimate election and to make it damn hard to win an illegitimate one as well. They have to support moderates like Biden and others and accept that they will lose some of what they want in the process. The alternative is living in a highly unpredictable right wing hybrid authoritarian state that becomes increasingly polarized and unstable. And corporate billionaires who want to stay out of the fray and try to wear fake optimism (hello Warren Buffett, Howard Schultz, etc) need to get fucking real.

If they can accept that, they will also be able to make far left alternatives less appealing. But they have to accept that their role in democracy by enriching themselves without regard to the working class has been destructive, and they need to see beyond the stock price - and chances are, the numbers next to their ticker symbols are fake as fuck anyway.

I’d like to see Individual 1 pull a Laura Loomer and chain himself to the Twitter headquarters doors.

To be fair, the number of states with straight ticket voting has declined to just six.

Far more than STV, paperless voting makes me nervous. You got physical ballots you can recount as many times as you wish. They can be discarded but they can’t be hacked.

The Onion has you covered.

“…Look, we all have the right to protest, but that doesn’t mean you can just rush in and destroy any business without gathering a group of clandestine investors to purchase it at a severely reduced price and slowly bleed it to death…”

<wiping tears> I scared my dog, laughing at this. Thanks for that!

The Onion lives!

But reality is closing in on them…

I swear I saw that last part as “vote-party-state option”. Maybe that’s because I live in a one party state or perhaps it’s because the Republicans are doing their utmost to make it so. Sadly, I think the latter is more likely than the former as the reason for that misreading.

Matt Gaetz is advocating for “Antifa” to be hunted down as terrorists. Twitter covered up his post for inciting violence. And he’s going at them repeating his threats over and over again, just daring them.

Does he happen to explain who Antifa is besides “some looters I saw on TV”?
