Montgomery County ¶ commissioner Joseph Gale put out a press release blaming all the problems in Philadelphia on Black Lives Matter, which he labels a ‘radical left-wing hate group’, along with other dog whistles. He also whines that the police were not allowed to risk lives and violence over spray paint on the Rizzo statue, which is soon destined to be removed anyway.
Achange.org petition has already been started to have him removed.

The mayor of Omaha, who is a Republican, called a critic a “troll who hides behind symbols instead of using their real name”. The person is a Korean who lives in Nebraska, and the “symbols” are her name in the Korean alphabet. After people jumped all over the mayor for her comments, instead of apologizing, she just deleted the whole conversation.
BTW, Steve King lost his Republican primary tonight.
God, I remember Frank Rizzo. A massively corrupt asshole who presided over one of the nastier periods in Philadelphia’s history. I didn’t know there was a statue of him, but I’m glad to hear it’s being removed.
Also not sad to see Steve King go, although some of the reason appears to be that he was insufficiently loyal to our Dear Leader, so I suspect his replacement won’t be much better.
That’s my county. He’s being justifiably slammed around here and even other county commissioners are criticizing him.
The statue of mayor Rizzo is in Philly which is a different county. The fact that he defends Rizzo says everything. Frank Rizzo was a notorious “law and order” mayor and that statue should never have been erected.
The Rizzo statue is gone.
I hope that’s permanent and that it wasn’t just removed for repairs.
Given the present Mayor’s feelings about the statue I doubt it will be surfacing publicly anytime soon.
