During an interview on Jay Selulow Live show, the Louisiana congressman accused President Obama of giving Muslims waivers to pass through airport security without being screened. Landry claims Obama is allowing this because he is giving Muslims a religious exemption. Landry says Obama is attacking Christianity by not allowing a religious exemption on contraception, but is gladly aiding Muslims.

We’ve been giving a lot of Republicans the benefit of the doubt in terms of ethics, by assuming they actually believe at least some of the ridiculous crap they spew about Obama being a Muslim and what-not. But I’m starting to wonder if at least some of them don’t know perfectly well it’s crap and simply don’t care as long as they can get Republican voters to believe it.

Of course my community has just qualified to become certified as a Blue Zone Community to help improve the health and life expectancy of all citizens.

There are five geographically defined places on the planet where people live measurably longer, happier, healthier lives. Where dramatically more people live into their 90’s and 100’s and do so with half the incidences of cancer and other diseases. To be certified as a Blue Zones Community, a town needs 20% of its citizens to pledge and complete at least one pledge action from a menu of simple choices, 50% of its top 20 employers, 25% of locally or independently owned restaurants, 25% of its schools, and 25% of its grocery stores to become certified. Finally, the local government must complete or adapt a small number of recommended projects or policies. When each sector has done its part, then the town is certified as a Blue Zones Community because its surroundings have been optimized to immprove the well-being of everyone who lives there.

State Del. Chris Stolle, R-Virginia Beach, who insisted on changing the “sea level rise” study in the General Assembly to one on “recurrent flooding,” said he wants to get political speech out of the mix altogether.

He said “sea level rise” is a “left-wing term” that conjures up animosities on the right. So why bring it into the equation?

Same for global warming and climate change. They are “left wing terms” that shan’t be used.

Chris Stolle says it’s not really happening and that it’s just a left-wing conspiracy to make you think the sea level is rising! So don’t worry - your beachfront property values are perfectly safe as long as Stolle says they are.”

North Dakota to vote on abolishing property taxes.

The property tax generates about $800 million a year in North Dakota. Except for a small share for a state medical school, the money is collected by counties and used to fund schools and local governments.

Of course they’ve thought this all through and have a plan for using their oil gains to pay for school and government. . .

Measure 2, as the proposal is called on the ballot, would require state government to make up for property tax revenue lost by local governments but doesn’t specify how. Sprynczynatyk said this vagueness makes it uncertain if the measure can be implemented.

North Carolina State Senate GOPers, not to be outdone by their Virginia collegues, passed a law requiring state planning to assume only eight inches of rise in sea level before 2100, rather than the 39 inches predicted by scientists.

RALEIGH, N.C. The North Carolina Senate has approved a bill that ignores scientists’ warnings of rising sea levels.

Senators approved the bill on a 34-to-11 vote Tuesday. The measure received little fanfare and no senators spoke in opposition to the measure.

HB 819 says that only the N.C. Coastal Resources Commission can calculate how fast the sea is rising for state governmental purposes and those calculations must be based on historic trends, which are much lower than the science panel’s projections.

I think they are saying everybody is against it (it apparently lost by a 3-1 margin). Which leads one to wonder how it got on the ballot in the first place, of course.
