“You know those balls that they put on car antennas so you can find them in the parking lot? Those should be on EVERY car!” - Homer Simpson
"Conservative commentator Bill Kristol today on Fox News Sunday said that Democrats are “being foolish” by not proposing sensible gun regulations. "
Does Mr. Kristol think Repubulicans are incapable of proposing ‘sensible gun regulations’ for some reason?
Is that because Dems are often left cleaning up the mess Republicans leave behind?
Is it the Dems job because Republicans are afraid to do so themselves?
I’m sure Dems appreciate Mr. Kristol’s heartfelt advice.
Horseshit, Mr. Kristol. He’s hoping to goad the Democrats into pissing off the NRA. Man has the scruples of a moray eel.
He wants to reinforce the gun nut paranoia that Obama has been looking for an excuse to confiscate all their weapons.
But I got to admit, it’s not a bad scheme. Attack him for not advancing ‘sensible’ gun control legislation, and if he does, then attack him for proposing confiscatory Big Brother legislation.
Concern trolling.
It’s the same reason it’s the Democrats fault if a bill doesn’t pass that they voted for overwhelmingly, but not unanimously, and that the Republicans unanimously opposed.
We can only hope that this will backlash against him. Maybe Fox will can him for not being insane enough.
But no, too good to be possible.
Nah, it’ll be used to show that Fox Snooze does too have diversity. Look, not only a Jew, but one who supports efforts by the gun grabbers to reasonably grab guns! Wow, such tolerance of diverse opinions!
An AZ Tea Partier wants to recall John McCain because he isn’t anti-Muslim enough. McCain called out Michelle Bachmann for her recent Muslim McCarthyism.
Apparently, Scott Brown and Elizabeth Warren made a pact to keep out outside money in their race. And shockingly, its lead to a higher standard of political maneuvering and even the comments section, the YAHOO comments section, is pretty much civil!
But I’m not pitting that. Its a great thing. I’m pitting at this:
“But since then, Warren has established herself as perhaps the most prolific Senate fundraiser in the country and became mired in controversy over her claimed Native American ancestry. Consultants in the state say these factors add up to potential regrets from Brown backers and frustration from super PACs and other third-party groups.”
Mostly its been conservatives eager to use Warren’s claims of Native American heritage against her. They want to drag up shit that’s pointless and use their money to do their dirty work. There’s this bit from a conservative talk show host (of course):
"Howie Carr, who hosts a conservative talk show popular in New England and writes a column for the Boston Herald, says he wishes Brown hadn’t embraced the pact.
“I think it would have been better if Scott hadn’t agreed to it, the way things worked out with the Indian stuff,” Carr said. “It would have been nice to have some people come in and bang her over the head with the falseness of her claims to be an Indian.”
The “Indian stuff”, says Carr. Oh fuck off you shit. I can’t believe that was even an issue, but I guess it conforms with the conservative strategy of making Dems look as foreign as possible. This is just another example of the GOP’s race baiting hook they’re trying to hang on Dems and Obama, as if Americans can’t just worry about a black guy in office but, Yikes!, there might be some hidden Indians too!
I don’t give a damn for a second that Warren’s claiming 1/32 Cherokee heritage. And I wouldn’t care of shithead Mitch McConnell said he was part black. His heritage has no impact on him being a chinless turtle douchebag right now.
And I’m surprised about Brown. He really does seem like one of the good Republicans. He’s not as liberal as I would like, and he’s no Olympia Snowe or Susan Collins, but I don’t mind him too much. It would be nice if he would be more supportive of Democratic legislation though but then I suppose he’d be a Democrat. I hope this pact of theirs lasts until the election
He is, though. They both consistently vote to uphold Republican filibusters of, well, everything. At least Scott has the excuse that he needs to stay in the good graces of the leadership - Snowe, on the other hand is retiring.
How dare you bring that up? Don’t you know the Tea Party only cares about government spending? Quoting them complaining about other stuff is a cheap ploy!
Mitt calls Barack corrupt at the VFW convention.
His prepared remarks read “current”, but I’ve heard the tape and it’s clearly “corrupt”.
Perhaps a case of his internal censor being on the fritz.
Romney calls Obama 'corrupt' or 'current'; digital feud ensues
The whole speech:
It’s true, though - I spotted her in a picture in the most recent Highlights magazine.
Maybe she’s part Ho Chunk too.
The frequency of the dog whistle drops in direct proportion to the amount of trouble the campaign feels it’s in.
ETA: Simpler jayjay for the slow: “The Sheriff’s a ni-CLANG!”
No doubt someone from the right wing scream machine will be calling Obama a racist related to this.
I always knew Obama was a ni…Norman.
I was pretty stunned by this. I want to visit the prominent conservative blogs to see how they’re defending this (or saying how it’s being misinterpreted, or outright ignoring it), but I can’t bear to do so.
Anyone out there with more patience who can tell me?
In addition to being bigoted, it is just wrong; Obama comes from Anglo-Saxon heritage as well. It was only a year ago he visited his distant relatives in Ireland.
