Stupid Republican idea of the day

The Republican Party Platform provides some choice stupidities.

[ul][li] The GOP will fight jihadists who seek to impose Shariah law in the U.S. (“There must be no use of foreign law by US courts in interpreting our Constitution and laws. Nor should foreign sources of law be used in State courts; adjudication of criminal or civil matters.”)[/li][li] The GOP “reject[s] the UN Agenda 21 as erosive of American sovereignty, and we oppose any form of UN Global Tax.” Agenda 21 is a widely-ignored “neo-Communist” plan to promote health, empower women, combat poverty,and protect the environment.[/li][li] Bring back the gold standard. (“Now, three decades [after Reagan’s commission rejected a right-wing plan to restore gold standard], as we face the task of cleaning up the wreckage of the current administration’s policies, we propose a similar commission to investigate possible ways to set a fixed value for the dollar.")[/li][li] GOP takes a stand on recent rampages by armed American maniacs: “We oppose legislation that is intended to restrict our Second Amendment rights by limiting the capacity of clips or magazines or otherwise restoring the ill-considered Clinton gun ban.”[/li][li] Although it was FoxNews that recently outed a U.S. Navy SEAL, they blame Obama (“The current administration’s leaks of classified information have imperiled intelligence assets which are vital to American security.”)[/li][li] Et cetera.[/li][/ul]

“Agenda 21 is a widely-ignored “neo-Communist” plan to promote health, empower women, combat poverty,and protect the environment.”

Why would anyone be against those things?

I can just picture the platform committee, hunched over a large white canvass in a smoky treehouse, furiously scribbling out the mean things Obama has done in crayon an hour before they had to unveil it at the convention. Not that the GOP had much faith in facts before, but this is like they copied and pasted a freeper post and decided it was what the party stands for. Never have I seen as big a group like the GOP with presumeably at least a couple of intelligent people churn out so much shit that could clog up an outhouse

See the title of this thread. I’m beginning to suspect that supporting any of these things is against their religion.

Note that the reason given for opposing this has nothing to do with it violating the First Amendment. I wonder why?

How long until some Liberal points out to them the the Bible was written in the Middle East?

Mitt Romney says the US is a “company”;

[QUOTE=Mitt Romney]
Paul Ryan and I understand how the economy works, we understand how Washington works, we will reach across the aisle and find good people who like us, want to make sure this company deals with its challenges. We’ll get America on track again.

Should we expect downsizing?

Or at least offshoring.

“I like being able to fire people.”

Maybe he can ship Texas to Rangoon or something.

Can I have Idaho? I wanna go-go-go to Ida-ho-ho-ho.

Today in “words mean things”:

If there’s one industry that hates Obama to its core, it’s the coal industry. They’ve not been shy about using their astroturf groups to explicitly campaign against the President, and my friends who work in the mines say that they’ve been pretty shameless in telling their employees how they need to vote.

So it’s no surprise that when Romney showed up at a coal mine in Ohio, the miners were forced to take the day off without pay and attend the rally.

Of course, Murray Energy’s CFO denies that anyone was “forced” to attend.

So it was mandatory, but no one was forced to go. Got it.

I’m kinda guessing that paying them for the lost workday would have constituted a campaign finance crime.

But not the Book of Mormon !

Screwing coal miners. Nostalgia.

The more things change, same as the old boss. You load sixteen tons…

Naaah. For that you need a good old fashioned 100 % American con man.

If my employer told me “the attendance at the Romney event was mandatory, and that my pay would be docked” how eager would I be to actually vote for Romney? Man, I’d be so pissed I’d be making phone calls for Obama until my fingers fell off.

I think in his mind, it actually was, or was just about to.
