Stupid Republican idea of the day

So he was ahead of the curve.

My favorite part of this video is where Pat says divorce isn’t okay according to Scripture, but somehow converting to Islam is okay.

Wait, what? No way. No chance he says that. Trouble is, I’d have to watch the whole damn thing to be sure, and I’m just not willing to do that

Wonder if he told that to Sarah Palin.

From tonight’s Maddow show: Public Policy Polling included a question on their latest poll, asking “Who do you think deserves more credit for the killing of Osama bin Laden: Barack Obama or Mitt Romney?”

Among Ohio likely Republican voters: Obama 38%, Romney 15%, Not Sure 47%

Among North Carolina likely Republican voters: Obama 29%, Romney 15%, Not Sure 56%

That’s right, 71% of likely NC Rep voters either think Romney was more involved in the operation to kill Bin Laden than Obama was, or they’re not sure who was more involved.

I knew that Romney was responsible for saving GM, but I must have missed the stories about his involvement in killing Bin Laden.

Romney advisor, when asked what tax loopholes Romney plans to close, responds “pro-growth policies” and "energy independence ".

Whoops, forgot the link and missed the edit window.

Much as I enjoy mocking stupid republican ideas, I think you’re misrepresenting this… from reading the article, it’s not so much that a Romney advisor, when asked what tax loopholes Romney plans to close, claimed that “pro-growth policies” and “energy independence” were tax loopholes that Romney plans to close, as it is that a Romney advisor, when asked a question about a specific part of a Romney plan (which loopholes his plan would close), instead just nattered on in broad generalities. Which is certainly something that reflects poorly on the Romney campaign, but I don’t think it’s quite as dumb as you’re making it out to be.

Which God? Yaweh or the Mormon God, who used to be a dude like any other dude until he attained perfect enlightenment beneath the Bodhi Tree, died, and got Midgard as a present?*

    • Or something like that. Theology isn’t my specialty.

As a general thing, your Norse gods are violent and hyperactive. Though one was low key.

Offhanded punning is týrrible.

Anyway, maybe Romney staged a rally saying he wholeheartedly supported the killing of Osama before venturing off on a mission of his own (combating European secularism, an illfated project).

I wasn’t sure GOP stupidity could still surprise me, but this one is ridiculous. No matter how pro-GOP one is, what did Romney have to do with bin Laden?

It does remind me of another right-wing Stupidity to mention, however. In other threads we have right-wingers(*) like John Mace saying that American democracy works, that voters get what’s best for them. How can anyone believe that with stupidity on display like the above example?

(* - I realize John Mace supports Obama, and might call himself libertarian rather than right-wing. But the whole GOP == Right-wing meme is confused anyway, Insane-wing or Stupid-wing would be better descriptions of GOP voters.)

Not to excuse the stupidity but liberals don’t escape unscathed either:

Ignorant people are ignorant.

That’s exactly what my righty friends have been posting on Facebook for a while. I’m not sure what it means, but it sounds cryptic and scary enough I guess (if you are still scared of the flying monkeys from The Wizard of Oz).

Today’s righty Facebook meme is “Don’t vote”. I had 3 this morning:

“If you are not into politics then please don’t vote. Remember that even though you are not into politics, politics will always affect your life.”

“Responsibility is the key word in your statement. One should vote responsibly and people that are not into politics should stay away from the voting booth.”

“Absolutely right .. That’s the reason our country is in the condition it’s in. Ignorant people vote based on personality not on principal. They are easily manipulated by false adds and windy speeches. We need input from citizens that have a basic understanding of the constitution and that have the overall good of this nation at heart. There are too many people voting for the one who gives them the most free bees! THINK, UNDERSTAND, THEN VOTE!”

Bees, you say?

SHUT UP AND TAKE MY VOTES.

You’re such a trickster.

You know, I was still chuckling over the Jesus/death tax line, then you had to go and do this. Bad 'luci, bad; no cookie.

He makes a clear joke of it at the beginning, “Become a Muslim, move to Saudi Arabia; but seriously folks…” Then as he mumbles his way through his speculations of her obviously deficient upbringing (she hasn’t been taught the righteousness of submitting to her husband) he seems to realize there aren’t any legal ways (that he can think of) to “correct” your uppity wife in the US, so he ends on, “Yeah, move to Saudi Arabia.”

Good to know Romney will have God in his heart while he pushes grandma off the cliff. That’d be really upsetting if a godless heathen did it.

I would interpret these results as follows.

8% of people misheard or didn’t understand the question. (4% answered Obama, 4% answered Romney)
11% of Republicans will answer any survey to support their guy over Obama regardless of what the question is.
40% Want to pretend that Obama didn’t have anything to do with Osama’s death but correctly realize that Romney didn’t do anything either and so in comparing 0 to zero say they don’t know.

In general I don’t put a lot of faith in these partisan based knowledge polls because people are too likely to say whatever they think makes their candidate look the best rather than what they actually think.
