Who exactly is going to be asking Obama that question?
Any time Brownie wants to remind people of his actions regarding Katrina is the right time to me. Keep talking!
Who the hell said “you know who we need to get a quote from? Michael Brown! Get on it!” ?
Obama’s campaign manager?
Brownie has probably fallen out of whatever political circles he was in, so he doesn’t have anyone leaning over his shoulder saying “wait don’t remind them of Katrina until after the 6th!”, and he’s probably happy for any credible paper interview at all.
Yeah, too bad the paper couldn’t find anybody credible to interview…
This probably deserves its own RO thread, but apparently Twitter user @comfortablysmug, who sent out numerous tweets of false information during Hurricane Sandy, is actually Shashank Tripathi, a hedge-fund manager, and the campaign manager of Republican Congressional candidate Christopher Wight. From what I can tell, this isn’t really much of a race, as Democratic incumbent Nydia Velázquez has been in office since 1992 and has never received less than 80% of the general election vote.
Aaargh, looking further, Velázquez is in the current 12th District. Wight is running against Carolyn Maloney, currrently representing the 14th District, which will become the 12th when redistricting takes effect. Maloney’s a little less of a lock, having polled as low as 72% in the past.
Was some political gain to be had from these bogus tweets? Or was he just trying to get retweets?
I think he was just seeing who he could troll. Doesn’t seem to be related to his political activities, other than both springing from the same contempt for humanity in general.
The thing you have to admire about conservatives is how they double down on stupidity. Sure you have a party full of young earth creationists, birthers, and people who think you can’t get pregnant from rape, but it takes real dedication to think it’s a good idea to have a radio show hosted by the one of the most inept public officials in recent memory.
There is really nothing that is just too fucking stupid for these people.
The Shashank Deception, then?
I’m not sure if this has been mentioned anywhere yet, but it really struck me as laughable, if it weren’t so friggin’ pathetic.
Mitt Romney organizes a Storm Relief Eventin response to Hurricane Sandy. It’s just complete coincidence that this “Storm Relief Event” just happened to be where he already had a campaign event scheduled, complete with NASCAR driver Richard Petty and country singer Randy Owen. I’m sure those good people – in Ohio – will appreciate all the relief Mitt and the boys provide while specifically NOT politicizing the storm that devastated the east coast.
You’d think my cold, cynical heart would merely chuckle at this; but the stench of desperation is fouling my senses.
How about McCain using a relief benefit to rip into Obama about Libya.
This makes perfect sense because:
- Everybody knows the president uses his weather machine to help cover-up things he doesn’t want anyone talking about.
c) Sandy the hurricane and sandy vaginas are the same thing, so McCain was totally right to bring this up.
opal) Because arresting almost everyone responsible for the attack is a massive failure as is the government’s prompt response to this natural disaster. Peas in a pod!
And making the cravenly transparent “relief” event even more transparent, Romney staff seeded the donated goods with $5,000 worth of supplies from Walmart. Linky. (Yes, it’s Kos, so conservatives, protect yourselves from liberal brain melds and all that.)
Well, it’s even worse than cynically transparent, it’s actually a distraction and waste of time for the Red Cross. They want money and blood donations – not canned goods and granola bars that they have to process and store somewhere (not to mention ship in from Ohio when the same goods are available at Walmarts throughout the affected region.)
Mitt didn’t want to be upstaged by Ryan washing clean pots.
I stole this and used it in my Government classes yesterday, slightly edited. They thought it profound, and it sparked quite an interesting discussion. Thanks.
So he sent Ryan up to Wisconsin to delay relief efforts there.
It kinda looks like Romney’s team doesn’t think Hurricane Sandy was a big deal. Well, except Romney’s probably convinced that the sinking of the Bounty halved the navy.
