Stupid Republican idea of the day

In my regularly schedule tuning into the wing-nuts (read: listening to AM radio on my lunch break) I heard two equally retarded arguments regarding polls.

1 - Glen Beck made this argument: “What was the spread in Minnesota for the Walker recall right before the election? +3. What did he actually win by? +9. That’s a 6 point discrepancy – so, for tonight’s program we’re going to crunch the numbers and let you know what the numbers actually are.” Then he asked his PA to call up all the polling and swing 6 points across the board to Romney. Yeah. That’s crunchy alright.

2 - Rush Limbaugh offered this jaq-off: Why are all the polls skewed toward Obama? So that when he loses the election, he can initiate law-suit after law-suit claiming that the election was stolen. He even accused the president of outright skipping H-Sandy emergency meetings in order to meet with lawyers advising him of the “I’ll Sue If You Don’t Elect Me” strategy.

Don’t even ask me about Laura Ingram. I’m pretty sure’s only 12 years old, they way she screeches about shit like Michelle Obama suggesting people offer something other than candy to trick-or-treaters for Halloween. I don’t like to insult children.

“Children respond inadequately to sardonic humor and veiled threats.”

Brownie clarifies that he doesn’t have any substansive objection to how Obama responded to the hurricane - but he could have gotten more “mileage” out of it if he’d delayed his response.

Mike Brown, political savant and sage for the ages.

Anyone else wonder where he got the idea delaying a response to a hurricane would be a good political move?

Soooo, Brownie is still, essentially, saying that the President should not have acted quickly to make sure all possible federal aid was made available to those in need? Sure, help out the poor drowning bastards but wait it until you can maximize the political benefit for your own career.

Is it possible for one person to be this big of an asshole?

Yes, yes it is. The sad part is that he had to walk back the crazy to get there.

I understand he is quite the expert on Arabian horses. (Thought it was time to say something positive. Best I could do…)

Not stupid, but still a face palm — some of Romney’s charitable donations turn out to be as bogus as his other bedrock principles.

Whole thing is as tone-deaf as a lead bell.

Did you see the Brownie Pit thread? Apparently 'taint so.

These days, when he cashes checks, who writes them? Who employs Brownie? Pays him for his, ah, expertise?

They can’t stay away:

In 2009 he was working - without evident irony - as Vice President of Disaster Recovery Practice for Cold Creek Solutions, a data management company. He’s now the CEO for the Next of Kin Registry, whatever that is.

Senate Republicans fight for their right to live in La-La Land.

That’s a NYTimes link. Can you summarize or quote the crucial bit?

Due to pressure from Republicans, the Congressional Research Service withdrew a report showing a lack of correlation between cutting taxes on the Job Creators and economic growth.

See also Jared Bernstein and Kevin Drum. An often overlooked GOP tactic for dealing with information that contradicts the conservative agenda is to find ways to stop the government from collecting and publishing that information in the first place.

“The Congressional Research Service has withdrawn an economic report that found no correlation between top tax rates and economic growth, a central tenet of conservative economic theory, after Senate Republicans raised concerns about the paper’s findings and wording.”

The independent congressional service that was researching whether decreasing tax rates had a positive effect on economic growth had its report removed after it found that no, lowering tax rates for rich people doesn’t positively impact economic growth.

So, the CRS joins the mainstream media, the CBO, the Labor Department, the polls, and climate scientists (and many others) as part of the vast liberal conspiracy. This is a sign that the Republican Party is completely unserious about governing. Nobody has any business voting for these clowns.

Here’s a twofer:

  1. Giuliani thinks Obama should “resign” over Benghazi.. Given that Giuliani’s job is to believe that Obama will be out of office in two months anyway, it shows a startling lack of confidence in the candidate he’s boosting for.

  2. Having been foiled in his unconstitutional attempt to supress early voting this weekend, OH secretary of state John Husted has now issued a last-minute directive, also unconstitutional, which could throw thousands of lawfully cast provisional ballots out.

Hello anyone! I was posting on another thread an hour ago and suddenly I received a call on my cell phone (number blocked) from one of the other posters. A threatening phone call. Can anyone tell me how that person was able to get my phone number? I don’t even have it in my profile!
