Stupid Republican idea of the day

Because, Lord knows, you can’t get DNA evidence following the temrination of pregnancy. That would be all sciency-y and stuff, and we can’t have that!

What the hell is wrong with you people? Don’t you know that she is merely correcting a HUGE loophole in our current system of justice? You know, the one that makes it perfectly legal to pick up a 13-year old girl from the playground, take her across state lines and force her to get an abortion, and then drop her off at the swingset and go merrily on your way?

Well, you technically can, but it’s not like abortion clinics keep the bio waste around in rows of painstakingly labelled jars in the basement for archival (or recreational) purposes. Not many of them do, anyway

So I suppose that means a “Rape Kit” is something they use to build rapes. And here I thought it was all about collecting evidence. You learn something Republican every day, don’t you?

Relax. Its made by Ikea.

Råpe ki╥?

Bah! ╥ in the sky!

Does it come with a special tool or do you supply your own?

Only if it is a legitimate rape.

Georgia Secretary Of State Brian Kemp: Allowing Citizens To Register On Election Day Undermines Their ‘Individual Freedoms’

http://thinkprogress.org/justice/2013/01/24/1490841/brian-kemp-edr/

Is it just me or does that seem like railing against banana splits because they’re sweet, and yummy and a great source of potassium?

I think I’m actually starting to understand where the GOP is coming from. They don’t want to have abortions. They don’t want their daughters to have abortions, even in the case of rape. Therefore anyone who does have an abortion must be doing it against their will, and the most important thing is to stop this horrible crime of forced abortion (which in their minds is all abortion). Thing like the New Mexico bill make more sense if looked at from this perspective. The idea that some women might actually want to have an abortion, even after rape, is so alien to them that it doesn’t enter into their thinking.

I mean to say … yeah, it does get down to letting people decide to register. Shit, good call.

Meet Florida State Rep. Charles Van Zant, who introduced a bill that would ban all abortions unless the mother is at risk.

Arizona Republicans (AGAIN!) propose a bill that requires a loyalty oath to graduate HS.

As one of the comments on that article says, “You can’t spell ‘crazy’ without ‘R-AZ’.”

My favorite was “Charles Krauthammer: Larger Sandy Relief Bill Was ‘Rape Of The Treasury’”

Given the current Republican trend on rape maybe Krauthammer is announcing he supported the bill.

They just can’t leave this topic alone, can they. No matter how much it hurts them with the general public, they appear to be physically incapable of NOT saying they’re going to ban abortion.

I’m fond of this especial gem. It explains so much about how Rand understands policy making:

Ah, Rand, Rand Rand. Silly Rand. “The reason people don’t agree with us is we haven’t EXPLAINED ourselves well enough! If we just keep TALKING and word things just right, the concerns people have that are not addressed by our message will simply not matter anymore!” It is very nearly adorably naive, if it weren’t for the fact that he has the power to draft actual bills.
