Stupid Republican idea of the day

I guess his next move will be to burn that book, too.

Terrifying Poll Shows How Republicans Are Just Willing To Let It All Blow Up

*"Democrats (62-31) and Independents (48-46) believe the debt ceiling should be raised. But Republicans (25-61) are about as heavily against doing so as Democrats are in favor of it.

“This is despite the fact that the vast majority of Republicans — and the vast majority of Americans overall — believe that not raising the debt ceiling would “cause serious harm” to the U.S. economy. By a 66-27 split, Republicans are aware that failure to lift the nation’s borrowing limit could inflict serious consequences. Overall, 73% of Americans believe it will cause serious harm.”*

This is the kind of dangerous thinking today’s Republican Party has instilled in their supporters. The headline is right: It’s terrifying. Their stupidity will bring this country to its knees … again. Yippee!

We’ve seen this before Oklahoma Republicans.

What goes around, comes around, as we NYers say.

Colorado House Republicans Unanimously Support Flood Relief, Unanimously Opposed Sandy Aid

Apparently they don’t believe in pulling themselves out of the flood waters by their own bootstraps.

Probably a large contingent of no votes on Sandy relief from the Gulf coast states. Just wait for the next big one.

I predict that the relief for Colorado will be given without much fuss.

In the true spirit of, “Let them eat cake”.

Republican congressman tells constituent asking about food stamp cuts: ‘Let him not eat’

A couple of comments on Reddit:

Check out the press release concerning food stamps (underlined for emphasis):

Lottery winners and millionaires chiseling off of food stamps…I suppose the Koch brothers cower at night knowing that Congressman Cramer is on the war path threatening their nightly dish of macaroni n’ cheese with bisque.

I deny their major, of course. There’s no real need to be working to receive a stipend from society. Do trust fund babies have to jump through unemployment hoops?

But in defense of surfers, surfing* is *work. They’re devoting themselves to their art, and there’s something cool about that. Even if it’s bad long-term financial planning–but hey, bad long-term financial–well, fiscal–planning is a GOP sacrament or something!

Prominent conservative pundit strongly implies that raising the debt ceiling encourages spending.

And you wonder why so many people are eager to crash the economy.

(I admit I may be reading this wrong, but it sure seems to ME that she’s saying that not raising the ceiling is a good thing to do. At the very least, she doesn’t seem to understand that the debt ceiling is one step too late in doing anything about spending.)

Of course. The consequences may be dire, but we need this to get our fiscal house in order! Wall Street and the world is cheering us on for this to happen! They’re gonna thank us! We swear!

I think she believes in the ‘strangle the beast’ metaphor. It’s a bit insanely destructive for my taste, but I think she understands it would hurt a lot, but thinks it would help shrink government long run.

Regarding Marie Antoinette, The Master Speaks.

Maybe he thought, “I figured out a way to get the Star Scientific scandal out of the papers (at least temporarily)!”

What do you get when you combine a dogwhistle with a bullhorn?

“Gee, I want to write a book about how black ‘racial demagogues’ have been attacking white people for decades. What should I call it? Hmmm…”

Your Barnes & Noble link didn’t work for me, Gyrate; here’s the same book at Amazon.

Well, gosh, thanks Bo, making sure I don’t miss my opportunity for an Ann of Green Goebbels book! So, a nice papercut and some lemon juice, not enough for you?

Or maybe it’s not that stupid - if anyone points that maybe calling a book about mean black people picking on whites “Mugged” is a tad racist she can turn around and go “See? You’re playing the race card again!”

Plus, it makes the audience fairly clear: anyone who doesn’t want to be bombarded with stupid can shove off right off the bat.

Does Ted Cruz remember the moral of Green Eggs and Ham?

If you try something, you might find out you actually like it, even if you didn’t think you were going to.

Maybe he should have read his daughters ***Mugged ***instead.

I suppose Blogger thinks Obama is the Antichrist is no more newsworthy than New Jersey housewife puts butter on her toast. (Are child-proof spoilers needed in the Pit? Anyway, don’t click the link! – I post it just for the record.)

I won’t try to summarize Mr. Powell’s teachings. What’s clear is that Comet Ison is on its way to save us from the Antichrist but, instead of bringing the Rapture immediately, God may want to first rub our noses in our sinful election of the Antichrist. Skimming Mr. Powell’s remarks, it appears God is particularly angry at Obama’s quest to overturn the Second Amendment.

I think someone’s mixing up God and Charlton Heston. Understandable, really.

Shit! Do I still have time to buy some black and white Nikes?

These people are still whining about Tawana Brawley?
