Stupid Republican idea of the day

Heh. Pun intended ?

Let’s hope not.

Yeah, Popper is not proposing to ban all speech, only to be on the lookout when the intolerant “begin by denouncing all argument”. When the intolerant “may forbid their followers to listen to rational argument, because it is deceptive”. When the intolerant “teach [their followers] to answer arguments by the use of their fists or pistols”

**Strassia **also made a good point.

But let us go back to subject, Michelle Malkin just can not open her mouth without an attempt at appealing to the good chunk of racists that follow Fox News.

Michelle Malkin Calls President Obama A ‘Rodeo Clown’ Re Syria

Three of the most stupid Americans of all time visit Egypt together on a diplomatic mission.

Imagine the poutrage from Faux News if three Democrats had done something similar during Cheney’s reign. There would have been calls for prosecution of traitors.

When Jesse Jackson traveled to Serbia to negotiate (as an independent – as a “journalist!”) for the release of hostages, some on the right did, in fact, condemn him and accused him of breaking the law. The complaints went nowhere, because he succeeded, and there was no political will to make a stink about someone who’d performed a heroic act.

It would be nice if the “ghostly trio” in Egypt did something productive, even heroic. No bets.

ahem (and pretty much the rest of that page)

I’m flipping between MSNBC and Fox News. Some people say they’re exact mirror images of one another.

They have a point. On both networks, the hosts are deploring what is going to happen on Oct 1 because of the intransigence of the other side.

On MSNBC, they are upset because without Congressional action, the government will shut down, and a couple weeks later, the US will default on its debts. The consequences, both in the US and worldwide, may be catastrophic. Lost jobs, lack of services, maybe even a global depression.

On Fox, they are upset because without Congressional action, affordable health care provisions will take effect. People who couldn’t afford insurance before will be able to, people whom insurance companies wouldn’t cover before will be able to get insurance, people who get sick will no longer lose their insurance.

Sounds the same to me.

It shouldn’t. The financial burden of Obamacare is going to crater our economy. Having another shutdown - well, that can be fixed quickly. Obamacare can’t.

Aren’t you ever embarrassed about being wrong every time you type something?

You are a walking, talking example of Poe’s Law. That anyone can seriously contend that expanding health care is worse than a government shutdown and/or default just blows my mind.

Obamacare goes online on January 1. How long after that will this cratering occur? What will be the objective signs that it has occurred? Or will it be ever receding into the future, like Obama taking our guns, or herding us into the FEMA camps?

I was thinking Dunning-Kruger.

Assuming RW preachers count as “Republican” – and I think we know how most of them vote – remember Terry Jones, the pastor from Gainesville, Florida, who was going to publicly burn a Koran but backed down?

He’s at it again, but this time he got arrested.

I was thinking Dumbshit-Krazy.

I’m not sure if not trying to burn them in his hometown was cowardly or ballsy. What small town is gonna want someone coming in from outside and making a scene like that, even if some of them don’t really like Muslims, which from the counter-rally doesn’t seem to be a significant percentage.

Looks like they’re throwing the book at them:

It’s time for another episode of Good Idea/Bad Idea

Good Idea: Breaking the ice at a political rally.

Bad Idea: Breaking the ice at a politcal rally by telling Jewish Jokes.

John Whitbeck, the Republican leader in Virginia’s 10th Congressional District, opened a political rally for Ken Cuccinelli with an anti-semitic joke. And it wasn’t even that good of a joke.

Polk County is basically just Gainesville without the college, so if anything I’d have expected him to get a warmer reception there.

But only if they filed the proper permits!

Fut the wuck?

That joke had nothing to do with anything! What happened in his brain that made him think, “I’ll open with an offensive joke, that has no other purpose for existence other than making an offensive joke”?

Maybe he thought he was at a Comedy Central roast of Sarah Silverman.

“It was supposed to be a complement. Everyone knows Jews are good with money!”
