Stupid Republican idea of the day

Video?

Doh, I forgot the link for the Bohener Boner:

GOP Rep. Scott DesJarlais of Tennessee is upset that the local Muslims have gotten approval for a Muslim cemetery in Murfreesboro.

Can the Dems please run someone against this turkey who will kindly point out that his intelligence is down in the ‘box of rocks’ zone?

I mean, completely aside from the usual stupidity that basically amounts to “religious freedom is for good Christians, not for all them other people,” someone with an intellectual edge over the box of rocks would realize that people die, and since the bodies of Muslims don’t magically evaporate upon death, something has to be done with the bodies. Like burial. In a cemetery.

If I were a local Muslim, I’d be proposing that we just dump the bodies of our deceased on his front lawn instead.

A good Christian cemetary, of course. Under a granite cross, with the Lord’s Prayer on it.

Those zany Republicans:

Ha ha. Ha ha ha.

Better yet, a Catholic* cemetery: since the ground is consecrated, a Mooslim body laid in it would shrivel up and disappear like the Wicked Witch of the West. You’d never even have to close the grave, and a single grave could serve any number of clients. Easy-peasey.

*Yes, I know that to some people — particularly in the Bible Belt — Catholics and Muslims are both unChristian. But when it comes to disposal of heathen bodies, perhaps an accommodation could be reached.

[sarcasm]No. No. No. Do you want these people to pollute a good Dog-fearing cemetary ?[/sarcasm]

Know a lot of minors living in college dorm rooms ? Who take advantage of ObamaCare Happy Hour ? (what the hell, btw ? Get a dozen cocktails, your gastric pump is free, what ? IOW, cite ?)

Besides, while I’m not up to speed on weed decriminalization laws, I’m fairly confident lawmakers made sure not to allow sale or gift of MJ to minors. Much like they won’t allow sale or gift of alcohol or tobacco to minors. Suits are buzz-kills that way, man. Finally, I’m not too clear on how exactly Obama’s administration is endorsing weed legalization, beyond just letting individual States do their thing (maintaining federal criminalization) and Obama’s statement.
Which, you know, saying it’s not The Devil’s Own Cancer Mind-Control Slippery Slope Plant is not encouragement, it’s just scientific fact. I note he still called it “a bad habit and a vice”, which certainly seem like pejorative words to me. But then I’m not a native speaker of English, maybe I ain’t know.

Maybe I ain’t know either . . .

She was young, she was pure, she was new, she was nice
She was fair, she was sweet seventeen.
He was old, he was vile, and no stranger to vice
He was base, he was bad, he was mean.
He had slyly inveigled her up to his flat
To view his collection of stamps,
And he said as he hastened to put out the cat,
The wine, his cigar and the lamps:

Have some marijuana, m’dear. You really have nothing to fear.
I’m not trying to tempt you, that wouldn’t be right,
You shouldn’t drink spirits at this time of night.
Have some marijuana, m’dear. It’s really much nicer than beer.
I don’t care for sherry, one cannot drink stout,
And port is a wine I can well do without…
It’s simply a case of chacun a son gout
Have some marijuana, m’dear.

Too good not to link.

What “laws that other organizations comply with on a daily basis” are being circumvented? Is there a burial practice required in Islam that is against some law? (I’m asking honestly, that is such a strange comment.)

The article doesn’t make it clear, but I’m guessing he’s suggesting that in the approval process for a non-religious activity would be much easier to throw wrenches into the works.

The idiots went ahead and did it: The Arizona Republican Party has formally censured Sen. John McCain, citing a voting record that they say is insufficiently conservative. What they think that will do to help them is unclear.

The Igneous-American Anti-Defamation League would like a word with you about this comparison.

The Iowa GOP posts on it’s Facebook page a flowchart titled “Is someone a racist?” before somebody decided that maybe it wasn’t a good idea and removed it. But not before someone got a screenshot.

Their Facebook page is getting hammered right now.

I think I can speak for the Sedimentary-American community when I say that we are ready to rock.
