In another nomination on this thread I was reminded of the sad fact that whenever a GOP person says “[Something seemingly empathetic about blacks]” the sentence never ends there; it always continues “… [some nasty racist tripe].”
Two decades ago I might have described many of my view as “centrist” or even “libertarian” but I would never describe myself thusly now: those words have been taken over by psychos, idiots and hypocrites. I often wonder about Dopers who describe themselves as “conservative.” Some of them seem intelligent and kind-spirited. Do they take care to distance themselves from GOP nonsense?

This seems to give him a huge out. ‘All that stuff’ that he and the rest of the rightards have been lying about aren’t going to be implemented because they don’t exist in either bill. I have no doubt that when HCR does get signed and the changes made to the HC system inevitably become popular, he and his cohorts will claim it was the Republicans who were responsible for it.
Well, then, let’s change the bill! Whatever it takes, man!
